NixiN-7hieN Nice collection there bro.

Collection and Collector's Edition are different things. Haha but nevertheless still interesting to see someone's loot. : )

Sample of collector's edition as below!  smile.gif

Well, to me most of these are considered limited edition to me. Cause not many stores bring in US versions of games just whatever is the cheapest.

Like I mentioned before I'm a bit OCD so in terms of limited editions, the furthest I would go for is Day 1/Deluxe/steelbook editions. Reason being space and cost. Back in hometown I got the GoW3 Pandora's box and Dragon Age: Origin wooden box case that made it difficult to display/arrange. But since moved out from the comfort of having attic to myself to a 100 sq ft room. Some sacrifices have to be made. The Dark Soul I got is from the Steelbook edition, but because displaying together with the rest causes it to look weird. Sent the box back hometown for storage.

Also unemployment and got my money cheated means I couldn't get the Deluxe edition of FFXV "R1" that would have arrived at my doorsteps now. But alas, such is life.

Hmm, deep bro. Am sorry to hear about your recent loss.

Nevertheless, I might have spoke too soon. Sometime OCD and those black labels PS3 can at times be vintage collector's items, over time. We are here to share loots and hobbies over similar interest anyway. Thanks for sharing your share of collection/collector's item bro thumbsup.gif

It's ok thumbsup.gif

Actually, I'm targeting these. From my point of view, I see the deluxe editions/collector's editions as a bit of just building hype. These games are that on sale on this website are the truly limited editions because they are not made in the millions like how the big budget games are. They are made in the thousands and once sold out no more are made. I see them as, if you're a toy collector, these are the limited edition statues while deluxe/collector's are the Hot Toy's 12 inch figures but at a cheaper price.

Side story: Also why I think some games are limited is because of this conversation I had with a few friends of mine about what happens to games that are not sold. Did you realize that you're not seeing old games in videogames shops anymore (in the US or UK stores like Gamestop)? We found out that the reason was that those game shops will send the unsold games back to the publishers and depending on the publisher what they might do is destroy or recycle the old games to save cost on the new games. Which is why we don't see like landfills of E.T in this day and age. Because discs are so easily destroyed and digital is becoming more prevalent, publishers most of the time look at physical copies and said screw it, not gonna pay for a warehouse to keep all these unsold games, we have digital and Steam (or in the case of Ubisoft/EA, they have their own stores), recycle them all. End of side story.

For me, it started very young. All the way back in the PS1 era, maybe even Sega Genesis era. I had been reading gaming magazines from the US back then like Electronic Gaming Monthly, GamePro, etc. So in my mind were all these US games that I wanted to play and when I went to my friend's house to play his SNES, I saw it was the Super Famicom and he was playing Rockman X. Megaman X is one of my most favorite game even to this day and I personally cannot call Megaman, "Rock"man. Besides translations and naming, the second thing that irks me all the way to the PS3 era was the TV signals. NTSC/PAL. My TV when I was younger didn't have a PAL setting, so whenever I played PAL games made the colors look weird. So when FFIX and Ace Combat 3 were only sold in PAL version... (pirated, I mean) I was super pissed that I could not play FFIX in color. Everything was black and white or washed out pink. So even when I was younger I vowed to focus only on NTSC/US games, I bought Metal Gear Solid 2 and FFX in NTSC/US before the PS2 started getting pirated games. It was both a region lock thing and to make sure that I got the US version and it would look ok on my TV. If I started gaming today, then I wouldn't mind too much. Cause it's HDMI and the picture all comes out the same.

Jumping closer to today, I started with R1 games because of course they were the US version, following my previous line of thinking. But also because early in the PS3 life, there was no Malaysian store or things like that. So I bought all my games on the US PSN Store because games came out first there most of the time and because of region lock on DLC. Cost-wise also, I can get the games on the PSN store and Play-Asia cheaper because they go on sale more frequently. Most of the time cheaper than the second-hand people will sell here. I rarely buy games on the first day, maybe a year or two later. So by the time I buy them, the price would have gone down a lot while second-hand sellers will want to retain the cost of what they paid and keep prices high.

Then even more recent is because of censorship. Some might argue that US gets the most censorship in terms of fan-service and the whole feminist cancellation of games, see: Dead or Alive Xtreme 3. But after the introduction of CERO in Japan a few years ago, Japan is one of the most strictest in terms of censorship. Followed very closely by Australia and Germany. If you don't include harm coming to children and underage fan service, US games on average actually retain the most content compared to all the other countries.

So by ranking, I buy only R1 because of
1. My OCD to have everything look the same
2. Cost
3. My PSN account and DLC + Trophies
4. Censorship

Truly, I believe it's an OCD thing. Wanting to keep things relatively same or similar. But the other reasons are there for me as well. I would also get Japanese games but their cost is prohibitive. Especially their anime blu-rays. So for now, until I get a super high paying job and not just peanuts. I just focus on R1/US games and movies.

I believe you are not the only one in this. I have meet a few gamers/buyers who share the similar view. Very specific on R1 game titles. Among the reason given was also the intro booklet for R1 is thicker?

Probably in future there might be a market for collectors like the old ringgit Malaysia. vintage stuff. Thanks for sharing your views and background for collecting R1 games smile.gif

Yeah, cause the systems are now region free. Not like the PS1 and PS2. Only the DLC is region locked for some games.

Oh yeah, the last difference that me get the R1 region than R2. It's the X and O... no matter how long I've played JP games, I'm still better at pressing X than O. Easier for my thumb to go down left than go up right because my thumb got bitten by a cat earlier in life. So all R1 games on the PS4 swaps it to X to confirm while the home menu still uses O if you play on the Malaysian PS4.

Really? I thought it was the worst? Haha, because of saving cost and internet. Europe should have the thickest intro booklet cause of all the languages.

Usually look at the publisher I feel, Capcom is the most lenient, they just use one version for US and Asia. The strictest is Activision, so Destiny is region locked. It's why I keep to one region also, less headache trying to figure all these things out. But the good thing about using PlayStation, it's free to create a different account with different region. Not like Nintendo where you only get one account or one region depending on the system.

I think from my experience, someone can correct me if I'm wrong. Only Japan R2 DLC is restricted to R2 games. Everywhere else should get the same DLC.

More like things like The Evil Within with their adult mode DLC which is to uncensor the Jap version. In the end, the amount of censorship still high. And got one RPG where the costumes dlc only available in Jap but not anywhere else.
