Hi All,

I'm currently driving a 2013 honda city (facelift).

Currently experiencing noisy tyre noise but tyre changed to brand new this year.

And I notice the sound insulation is poor.

Any budget way to improve it ?

Anyone done sound proof to improve the sound insulation?
Mind to share result?

All feedback are much appreciated.

Thanks and regards
Leon

Is it wind noise, road noise or engine noise?

Wind noise you can replace worn gaskets + add additional gaskets to certain areas, commonly sold on lelong and China online retailers. Not too pricy and easy to DIY.

Road noise no cheap way. 3+ year old car it's about time to look at your suspension bushings d. Pay attention to the bottom and top of each spring, there should be a piece of rubber. This one usually gets hard after awhile, cheap to replace but you need to remove the springs which is not easy. All 4 springs maybe take half a day for workshop, DIY can take a whole day. As your shock absorber get older also road noise will increase.

Currently doing soundproof on my car, everything diy. It's not expensive but alot of labour. If send to shop mark-up is generally high. Doors make the biggest difference (biggest flat sheet of metal on your car). But road noise is very hard to reduce. Easiest and quickest option is add additional layer of carpet.

Hondas are notorious for poor soundproofing. My Accord is similar. It's the facelift from the previous generation. Apparently, the prr-facelift is much worse.

Basically, there isn't much you can do about it.

You could install some Dynamat but doing that stuff DIY is difficult.

KL Autofoam do soundproofing if you want a professional job but don't expect Rolls Royce soundproofing.

Thanks for the advice... currently my car is worst...sometimes when the road surface is a little rough, those humming sound surface...

I tried accord...i think the sound insulation is damn good already... I can get something close to that (which i think unlikely), I will be more than happy...

There is no budget way to improve it unless you are very handy with your hands and can DIY including removing door panels, seats and floor mats.

Otherwise you can spend 3K - 4K for some improvement but it's not going to be spectacular. Road noise is low frequency rumble and it's very hard to reduce.

Unless the money means nothing to you I would just leave it. Dismantling many items can also result in ratlling, humming or squeeking later if clips are broken.

I think the new Accord is better. They've tried to make it softer to compete with the Camry. Toyotas have much better soundproofing.
