Don't think our players or our squad as a whole are any inferior to theirs imo.
But Conte has got them playing as a unit. They attacked as a unit and they defended as a unit. They were like a well oiled machine. Whereas we look like 11 individuals that has just been assembled last night and then penned down to face Chelsea. |

Takpe la we will struggle in the games against Hull and Bayern and then we will thrash Sutton Utd 10-0 with Ozil getting 10 assists then its Wenger IN again, Ozil the greatest playmaker that can walk on water and swim on land and all is well again. Then the topkek gang with hindsight 2020 and limitless football knowledge will come out and topkek here, topkek there, ridicule anyone that criticizes the team, players or the manager in the past.
After that get knocked out of the CL after the second leg, drop out of the top 4 after a few more draws or losses in the league, eliminated in the FA Cup after being drawn against a half decent team then its Wenger out again, this player shit, that player shit. Last part of the season, cue a decent run of wins with nothing left to play for and finish 2nd/3rd/4th and its Wenger in again and "next year will be our year by signing this and that". Rinse and repeat. Same shit in Arsenal Street talk for the past >10 years I've been on here bar the two years we won the FA cup. Now that is what I call consistency. QUOTE(changchai @ Feb 9 2017, 06:39 PM) Please don't even bother comparing us to Man U la.Each time when a possible change of manager is mooted bam people will take the current situation Man U is facing now to throw at your face. Man U have been on a different level and are arguably at the pinnacle of world football before their fall from grace after Sir Alex left. They fell from the absolute top. Whereas look at us lol we are nowhere near the top. If you take the current situation man u are facing now and compare to the potential worst case scenario we could face with a manager change its like comparing falling from a 10 storey building to falling off your house wall. They fell from being consistently champions of England, a major force in Europe who has won the CL multiple times to a team fighting for a spot in Europe. Worst case scenario for us, a team never challenging for the title fighting for an european spot with Wenger to errrr a team never challenging for the title fighting for an european spot with a new manager? and if we do qualify for the CL, from a team just making up the numbers in the CL with Wenger to erm a team just making up the numbers in the CL with the new manager? LOL not much difference to me. And Spurs? Seriously? They have consistently made progress with every manager they have changed IMO. They have bested their club record points tally already a few times and we haven't beaten them in 3 seasons in the league for gods sake. Their first season with Pochettino last year, they finish third, their best league finish in 27 years or so. From a mid table team with the occasional Europa League finish to genuine CL spot challengers. So how is that not progress? I agree with you though that Wenger has done a great job with what he has done with Arsenal. Arsenal will never be where there are today, certainly if not for him and he is in your words, a great club builder. How big Arsenal are today is testament to that. But we have reached a point where probably the only way to take this club to another level are trophies and for that, we need, in your own words again, managers who are good team builders. Great players and managers come and go but the Arsenal are here to stay. Wenger has done a great service to the club and he should be honored in a way befitting his contribution to the club. But we shouldn't stifle our club's progress just because of one man regardless of his contribution to the club, especially at this point where we need to start winning trophies, especially the league, to take the club to the next level. Sadly as much as I love the old man for what he has done with our club its hard to see us winning the league ever again with him at the helm. QUOTE(changchai @ Feb 10 2017, 03:20 PM) the reason i name the 3 teams is to counter casa's mentality that changing a manager meant winning trophies n progressing. Well Casa just posted changing managers has never been an issue for those teams to win. He didn't say that changing a manager meant winning trophies and progressing. Just as you said changing managers didn't work out well for the teams you mentioned in reply to him but that doesn't necessarily mean you have the mentality that changing a manager means failure to progress right? And TBH Spurs has made huge strides from changing managers. We have failed to beat them in 3 seasons, from perennial mid table losers with the occasional Europa campaign to genuine Top 4 contenders, they have a new state of the art stadium with an even bigger capacity than ours coming up and their finish last year of third, after a change of manager is their best in 27 years. So how is that not progress? |

QUOTE(changchai @ Feb 10 2017, 05:42 PM) As for casa case, he did mention about winning trophies (Looks at the bright side. Changing manager never been an issue for Man City & Chelsea. They are still winning trophies & they will continue to win.) Yes the point I was trying to make is that you did not say that, similarly Casa did not explicitly say that changing a manager meant winning trophies and progressing. From what I read he was just saying that a change in manager for Arsenal could mean continued success like the teams he mentioned in reply to someone who posted earlier he doesn't want us to end up like Liverpool which could also happen. So from what I saw is that someone is saying that a manager change could be bad for us and he just replied that on the flip side it could be good. I did not say we will definitely fail if we change manager - i was comfortable with george graham before wenger took over so yes there r chances it would be better or worse. I did not against the idea of not getting a new manager, i just prefer stability until a right manager came along. N if wenger is to stay for 2 more seasons, is fine by me as well. As for spurs - from perennial mid table losers with the occasional Europa campaign to genuine Top 4 contenders - wenger did it with arsenal with one season. As for the stadium we already gone thru that period n financial stabling n if spurs (as u say) building a new, bigger n state of the art stadium then they will go thru that same financial constraint which we have passed. 27 years to get to this "so called progress", well i guess it's better than nothing. No offense bro, we both support arsenal with our hearts out - just a differences in opinion n i respect ur opinion. As for Spurs, how far a club has reached is moot because we are measuring progress here. And we have had none of that in the past 12 years. I agree Wenger has brought us to a whole new level when he joined and for the subsequent 8 years or so we have been consistently moving forward and making progress but since then we have stagnated for at least the last 12 years or fallen a little. Spurs in the last 12 years have improved leaps and bounds with their last 3-4 changes in managers and at the end of the day, represents progress and much more than us during the same time period. You may argue that its way tougher for a club at our level to progress from where Wenger has brought us to than a team at Spurs level to progress but this will effectively rule Man U out of the initial argument because Man U were already at the pinnacle of world football and to be honest I don't even know how it looks like or is it even possible for a team to progress further than where Sir Alex brought them. I am leaning towards a change in manager simply because I don't see Wenger as capable of bringing the club to levels higher than he already has. But having said that, I am an Arsenal man first and foremost and IF the club chooses to extend Wenger to stay on then so be it. I'll just suck it up and continue to support the team. As long as the manager or players continue to don the red and white I'll continue to support and hope they do well, yes, even if their as shit as Ramsey or Sanogo. |

Mixed feelings over the lineup.
Can't brain Iwobi over Welbeck on the left. Welbeck's pace. power and directness would be better suited IMO. Plus most importantly Welbeck has the work rate and willingness to track back. Good luck to Gibbs in his one v ones against Robben tonight. Don't expect much help from Iwobi lol. |

Very good half from our team so far. The goal from Sanchez seemed to calm the early nerves and we look more like ourselves after that. Hopefully we will be able to build on that strong finish to the first half in the second.
