History of G-Shock:
"PROJECT TEAM Tough" formed by the creator of G-Shock is Mr. Kikuo Ibe,
which also known as father of G-Shock on 1981 to create"A Watch that Doesn’t Break Even when Dropped".
200 experimental prototypes later, it was a child’s bouncing ball that lead to the finish product.

2 years later -- 1983, the first G-Shock released
DW-5000C


The first EL Backlight model is
DW-6600 back in 1994


In 1995, DW-6900 released which is one of the
most popular models until today


G-Shock produces a lot of collaboration models with popular fashion brands, artists, designers and animations,
e.g. Stussy, Eric Haze, Bathing Ape, Lifted Research Group (LRG), One Piece, Cyborg 009.

G-Shock watches are popular with mountaineers, firemen, paramedics, people working in the offshore, police officers,
astronauts, film directors (Tony Scott was often pictured wearing a GW-3000B, as is Ron Howard and Francis Ford Coppola)
and soldiers. Ex-Special Forces-British SAS soldier Andy McNab mentions in several of his novels how his fictional character
Nick Stone relies on a G-Shock watch. According to Mark Bowden's book Blackhawk Down, the DELTA Operators wore
G-Shock watches during the combat events of 3 & 4 October 1993. Since then, G-Shock watches have become very popular
with Special Forces groups in both American and other NATO nation units, due to their being "battle tested".

Models DW-5600C, DW-5600E, DW-5900, DW-6600, DW-6900 are flight-qualified for NASA space travel.

The multi band function not working on Malaysia and Singapore right? I saw the Amazon seller saying that the multi band function works at New Zealand but I doubt that.

There's been rumors saying that the MB6 works on the west coast of Peninsula but never experience it working myself with all the MB6 Gs I have...

This is what i googled, i believe SEA countries like Malaysia, SG and Indo is not in the coverage.






I think New Zealand can't support either.

Yes, the multiband function is useless.
Only applicable to the 5 or 6 counties with the atomic clock radio towers or using an app on your phone.

just use JJY silmulator software...i synced my multiband watch with that software

I've read ppl in in SG receiving atomic signals... but only in certain locations and need to go high up.
jjy is ok but i wont use it often... cos lazy to redo the timezone and my longitude / latitude settings after using it.

i tried receiving atomic signal all over the coast at cherating, penang, pangkor etc...all no luck...go kelantan side also cannot get.
perhaps need some perfect conditions like after rain when skies clear at like 3am or something when less interference.

Since is not supported in Malaysia, that's fine. Just thinking to use it as a travel watch. I like the size and weight, What do you guys suggest? Going for tough solar or normal battery version? They 5600 battery only can last for 2years right?

all personal preference really.
my traveling casios are either my rangeman or protrek prw3000.
if u don't mind changing batt every 2-3yrs...nothing wrong with 5600...cept that its too small for my tastes.
u can also source for the G5600 or GWM5610 which are solar...

What bro Everdying said it right, solar is less maintenance compared to battery version I fell in love with solar battery after owning my first G-Steel

I do have a carbon fibre solar 5600 to let go if you're interested

was eyeing rangeman also and i really like the abc function, treking with those function is real fun . lazada selling 899 but, i saw ppl complaining the rug design flaws. Too bad, over budget.
omg i doesn't know there is pure 5600 tough solar model, i tot 5610 is the only tough solar model and without the multiband function g5600 is cheaper too.
actually i really like the dw-5600-ms1 color. negative display and stealthly look Most likely i will go for solar. I saw the real watch, pretty small indeed, but i think gonna fit my tiny wrist

lazada ppl are stupid...same stupid ppl in other forums also complaining about lug design... when in reality so few got issues out of thousands.
real reality is that previous gshock models also got same issue, dont believe go google.
but rangeman is more popular and in recent memory so those stupid ppl make noise again now.

Chill chill, I saw it on wuc forum because previously checking out rangeman. Lazada I didn't see ppl complaining. Ya out of thousands only few got issue. Those really no luck

today i molested someone's depth sensor froggie, quite heavy and big.
from memory feels even bigger than gx56.

anyway, for the price not for me.
kinda novelty as unless u go diving often, a bit wasted... since its basically triple sensor of temp & moon / compass / depth.

casio really making a killing with frogman...
cos got cheap moon / compass and also cheap cheap depth sensor watches...
but casio takes all those cheap cheap sensors and charges like 10 times more

I asked a few diver friends before, they did mention before that the entry level diving computer aren't that expensive nowadays so G-Shock is really cashing in on the brand and the shock resistant factor I guess..

Anyway, picture for your comparison I think the GX-56 still feels and looks bigger but the D1000 Frogman is really heavy :lol2:

Which model? G-Shock bnb are normally easy to open just a few screws, except the GA-110/100 series....those a bit susah...

i only able to open bezel except band
all this time, i brought to watch shop only..

Like I mentioned, depend on model

According to my experience, Rangeman & Frogman is the easiest to open

DW-6900 & DW-5600 is quite easy too

and i thought for most models u have to remove the band first before taking off bezel?

Currently im using this dual color band and wanted to change to the black one which basic band

For bezel, yes its easy as you need to open the screw
But for the band, i donno how to do it.. thats the reason i brought to shop for rm5..

All this time, i never changed any bnb and never played with custom..

But then, mmj looks dull thinking to give some color on it..

The band is held together with spring bar only just needa korek with the spring bar pin

that spring bar thingy lah made me stress..

Main thing is size one is damn small and another one is damn big

Function wise not much as both are regular G-Shock with timekeeping, alarm, stopwatch, timer

The one below is S5600 which is the same size as DW-5600BB and the other one is the GX-56BB.

at first i tot is from watchstation.com, until i ask them.

I bought from Elegant Store before, they are alright but shipping can be slightly slow sometimes

GD-350. Larger digits than the others thus easy to read, even for the negative display ones.
Bright back light. Affordable.

I like the Protrek for the Cloth band. That's the reason I am looking at it.

prg600 not worth it.
cloth band can always be ordered separately, but if its like the prw3000 one then its bad.

essentially real life usage, no difference with protrek or gshock... both are durable enough for the likes of special forces etc to use them.

You mean PRW3000 punya similar cloth band??

Lastly, where would be the best source for cheaper Protrek? I saw the price in Elegant-Store is cheaper than G-Factory. I travel to HK frequent, so this can be considered as well.

i see its holes aren't reinforced also, so probably won't last so long.
anyway prg600 quite overpriced for what it is, and analog ABC watches are just wrong...never as user friendly as digital ABC.

Very happy cause i found this 2 classic g shock brand new. Pricy though.......

I like the design, and the size is not too big.

I understand now what do you mean by Analog ABC....

But I like the design and overall appearance, and it is cheaper among PRW-6000 and also the Mud-Master. Guess this will be my next goto Watch.

i had a prw6000 when it first came out couple yrs ago, got marco set for somewhere around rm1.1k then.
i think prg600 is around the same price now? that kinda puts it in perspective on how not worth it it is to me
anyway i flipped my prw6000 after awhile and replaced it with a prw3000 titanium which I still have.
the prw3500 i got just for the sake of it, but now wanting to flip it to maybe get the new upcoming garmin fenix 5s.

Ok. I am very specific in these comparisons. Because I am looking for a GREEN analog watch.

So I am comparing between PRG600 and PRW6000 available in G-Factory and Lazada. PRW6000 is the more expensive one.

G-Fac is about RM500+-

Lazada is about RM600+-

PRG600 in Lazada is only RM1249+-.

I am still very much staying away from Smart Watch, due to the battery charging requirement.

cheaper green analog pieces there are always the ga100, new ga500, gg1000...

I mean the difference in price is around RM500+- between PRG600 and PRW6000 for G-Fac and also Lazada (RM600+-)

Finally went to Casio Service Centre at Segambut to order the parts for few of my G-Shock and finally get a clarification of their policy on parts ordering...

Hope this post will serve as a guide to those who's curious on the process to order parts
for your G-Shock:

1. You can only order the parts for the watch that you owned (the model specifically...), meaning if you own a black Rangeman, you can't order parts for a green Rangeman.
2. Waiting time for the parts will be >3 months
3. Full payment is required upon ordering.
4. If you have more than one watch that requires parts, you will need to leave you watch there with them during the order waiting period (>3 months)
5. If there's no damage to you watch, they WILL NOT order the part for you.

Bro Everdying, I asked about ordering the resin band for the G-Steel but the Malay lady there die die also don't allow me to order saying only can order the stainless steel band :sob:

Hey guys, I am planning to get myself a G Shock in the coming week. May I know is it better for me to get the watch from any Casio shop rather than G-Factory? (Heard my friend said buying from Casio is much cheaper compare to G - Factory).

Need advice from G Shock owners.
Btw I am living in KL, If not mistaken closest G-Factory will be Mid Valley and One U for me. hehe
