2) samsungpay on gear s3 still not available vmad.gif
3) even if I have 1 & 2, I don't have Maybank debit bangwall.gif biggrin.gif

Currently I'm just using CIMBpay app to get the feel of it. Lol.

I've schemed through almost 10 pages back but can't find an asnwer. If a retailer is using the terminal that doesn't support paywave where they have to slot in the card and ask us to key in our pin, can we still use samsung pay? And if can be used, where do we tap? I'm using gear s3 btw.

Not all starbuck is ok, try one at solaris statbuck payment go thru but they request card to swap on their machine, i told them i dont have, then they refuse on to serve me n cancel my order.
Not amex, i use amex a lot thanls to maybank reward.
I saw that but where to check our points ?
*
I really don't understand starbucks. Before samsung pay, i used cimb pay to pay and after the transaction was approved and receipt printed, the cashier asked for my card which i didnt bring with me. She later told me she cancelled my transaction but still prepared my drink. It was a free latte for me. Lol. Few days ago, i tried with samsung pay at different starbucks, transaction approved, receipt printed and notification came to my watch but then the cashier asked me to tap my watch at a different terminal attached to the monitor for few times but something was not registering. He needed to call a more experienced staff where she had to cancel my transaction and asked me to tap again, then only everything was ok. Something about the cashier picked a wrong payment method the first time. I guess it was the same issue both times where not all cashiers are well versed. I have no such issue with coffee bean though.

cause starbuck need to swipe our card twice, one for credit card payment, one for starbuck accounting use, so here is the problem, cause their machine (old type) can only accept swipe but not wave .....

btw base on BNM, they not allow to do that ....
*
But the thing is that, after the more experienced staff came to rectify the issue, I didn't have to tap my watch twice. Just once at the same terminal I used the first time, and everything went through. No additional taps or card or card number required. Just like at coffee bean or mcdonalds.

cause that is new system smile.gif
i kena solaris, even their manager come out and told me, without SECOND swipe, they can't do anything, i plan to go back and video it and send to bank negara ...
*
Lol. How to know which outlets got new system, which outlets got the old one. If i need to take out card from wallet after using samsung pay, it defeats the purpose d. Hahaha. I just wish they have similar kind of rewards / competitions for samsung pay with gear s3.

From my perspective I would say those that stop accepting Samsung Pay are stupid. Is people or corporations like these that Malaysia can't advance in the field of technologies.
*
Spot on. I wonder for places that dont support samsung pay, if we just say paywave, then use samsung pay instead are they going to decline?

Today samsung pay page from samsung gear app suddenly show options to redeem rewards. I thought gear users are eligible for reward points now cause that option was not available before. But after checking their FAQ, looks like it's still not available. Lol.

two day ago i try use Spay on merchant which don't accept paywave but payment go thru .... u don't ask me why, cause i just trying my luck when i ask that owner ...
*
How did the terminal look like? I just want to know if samsung pay can be used at terminals where they have to slot the card and we have to pit our pin numbers. That's what most merchants use if they don't have paywave terminal.

Some funny merchant, i just learn from net, tap on the side (where it swipe) and it processes.. .. That all ...

Normal paywave we tap on the screen, but this we tap beside ..
*
The hardest part is to convince them to let us use samsung pay when they say they dont support wave. Btw, if i use debit card, it doesn't matter if it's nfc or mst right?

Did anyone experienced payment show charged in Samsung pay but the transaction error in the terminal machine? I am using maybank visa card btw..
*
Just happened to me at H&M. Terminal showed do not honor the 1st time. Tried again and successful. But samsung pay list same payment twice. Lol. Before this, failed transaction never registered in samsung pay. Need to check account transaction in few days.

ETA : Just got notification in Samsung pay the 1st transaction canceled. Lol.

I only swipe tens of ringgit each time. 3-4 times a day.

Spoilt mood

Update:

I made another call to confirm RHB debit card limits.

Transaction per day : 10
Max Limit                : RM250

I did neither but my card was still blocked which sucks. Yes, Im swiping 3-5times per day to get 50 transactions but mostly on mcd, guardians, aeonbig. Most are <RM25. Only did 2 transaction over RM50 so far. Still sucks... I do not bring my card out since I was planning for 100% Samsung Pay since CC dont really give much benefits nowadays. Besides its a good way to separate own spending from claimable one (like petrol, servicing). It sucks when banks are trying to promote half heartily especially with a debit card. Have few K inside but unable to use it.
*
For rhb debit the max limit, is it per transaction or per day?

So if I'm paying items worth more than 250, I need to tap my device on the terminal then key in my pin no.?

What happens if I exceeded the limit for the day? Reset or need to wait next day?

Oh, my bad. I didn't explain properly.

Paywave limit per day is RM250 or 10 times whichever comes first. That was what I'm being told. However my card was still blocked when I didn't break both conditions. Using the physical card with pin would reset the counter for 10 transactions (tested  by using card to pump RM1 petrol and paywave instantly reactivate). Not sure about resetting paywave RM250 limit. Using non paywave would be advisable for transaction over RM250 but never tried yet.

BTW I want to ask those using MST before. Usually those manual one need to enter card then only key in amount. Like those also tap at the magnetic there first then only key in? Because want to try at a diner yesterday but she also not sure how to do. End up decline.
*
Thanks for explaining. I never tried more than 250 too and i also want to know about the terminals that requires cards to be slotted in.

Btw 2 days ago i used spay with my gear s3 at cold storage with no issue. Few hours later i tried at jaya grocer and got "do not honor". Tried twice no success. Then just now i tried to use at mcd also got "do not honor" twice. Donno what's wrong. Restart my watch but haven't tried spay yet.

Do Not Honor means it's the banks problem, not the watch. Every time this pops up it really frustrates me and we follow the rules by not going over RM 250 and it still shows this.
*
Yea I reckon it's the bank, not the watch. But it's just strange cause the last time it failed was 2 days ago so I thought the counter has been reset. This means I have to use physical card to reactivate paywave. Really defeats the purpose as I try not to bring this card with me.

QUOTE(andrekua2 @ Oct 27 2017, 12:40 AM)
Are you using RHB debit card too? This is exactly why I'm complaining. I even write them a hate mail to show my dissatisfaction. Do not honor means your contactless is being blocked. Every time it happened, you need to use physical card with pin for 1 transaction. Then only it will re-activate contactless.

If you want the cheapest way to unblock then can try my method. I use the physical card plus pin to fill RM1 petrol at Petronas.
*
Yup I'm using RHB debit. What kind of practice is this? Lol. If I don't complain or report it means I have no problem with my card. Why pandai2 block and require us to use physical card? Your Petronas method maybe I can try but I seldom fuel up with debit card. Don't like that I have to wait few days before they credit back money to my account.

I've had a few do not honor situations with the same card before but I never have to reset or do anything. It can be used at next merchant without issue. One of the reasons I thought it might be the watch problem. Lol

Meh. Still got do not honor at tesco just now. I just asked the cashier to slot my card and key in pin no for sweets that are less than 2 ringgit. Lol. Will see tomorrow if spay can be used again or not.

Unfortunately mine is small area here lol.. In the beginning they were like "wow, your phone can do that??" now they just blank face.. Some get to have a small chit chat since I almost go there everyday lol

There are a few quite like this idea as they do not need to open the cash register drawer to count money. Jus wave and keep the receipts, fast n easy for both of us.
*
I started with cimb pay earlier this year then samsung pay after gear s3 got supported. Now I'm dreading the places where i hv to dig my wallet for small change. Lol.

For me I used to use Maybank Pay, in the beginning was quite the hype, always see if I have the chance to spend over rm30 to show off the tech couple of years back, but it is not as user friendly back then. So I stop after using PBB card. And speaking of opening wallet, usually I'll leave it in car or jus have not much cash in it 😆
*
I wish more places especially for lunch or even mamak support this. First it was syok syok paying with phone or watch but now it's more because convenience. Haha

The act of swiping your card again on the POS system after paying with the terminal is called "Double Swiping" and is actually prohibited by BNM. Usually it's because the merchant's POS system is not integrated with the payment terminal, and they do this for both system & terminal to tally.
You can see it mentioned here at the end of this article : https://www.thestar.com.my/metro/community/...receiving-paym/

Double swiping allows chances for your card to be compromised :
https://coconuts.co/singapore/news/why-you-...ur-credit-card/
In any case if the payment is already made with Samsung Pay, providing the physical card will be no use too. Instead, if merchant really needs a number to enter to their system, can provide the last 4 digits as shown in Samsung Pay (Last 4 digits for cashier).
user posted image

or if really need to swipe on POS, can just tap Samsung Pay on the POS terminal swipe area like this:

*
This was what happened to me at some older Starbucks branches. Need to tap twice. The 2nd one where you tap near the screen is it mst only? Cause once I used cimb pay which can only be used with nfc and the 2nd tap can't be registered and I didn't bring my card. Ended up the cashier just void my purchase and I got free latte. Lol

unless you guys mean other dedicated special campaign reward point which i am not eligible to join, then i would not be able to answer that question definitely

but if you are referring to the normal SPay reward point, across all region same reward point, yes you will definitely get point when using Gear S3.
*
Their FAQ states SPay reward is not available with Gear S3. I can confirm there's no reward point with transactions done with Gear S3. But then again I dont have a phone that supports SPay so my usage is solely on GS3. Maybe it's a different story if your Samsung account is already linked to a phone that can collect reward points.

Lol. Samsung Malaysia really bad if they only offer 1 GS3 for redemption. Since I'm only using SPay with Gear S3 and not eligible for the reward points, I'm using it more because of convenience. But I'll be annoyed too if the same thing happens to me cause I can see myself going out of way to collect whatever minimum transactions required per month biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

Anybody using RHB visa debit? This is the 2nd time I faced this issue after 2 and half months using spay. After I tapped at the terminal, it said "received" followed by "do not honor" and transaction canceled. Both times I tried at 2 different merchants and faced the same thing. I needed to use pin & pay, then only can use samsung pay again. I didn't go over the daily limit either. I called rhb they said their only limit is rm250 or 10 times per day. They suggested me to call samsung. Lol. Donno how samsung can help. Any of you know any other limits / restrictions that require pin & pay to be used to reactivate spay? I don't mind if I got a prompt or notification alerting me to reset with pin but as it is now there's none.
