i managed to convince massage parlour to accept Samsung Pay. haha works flawlessly

my experience so far:

GSC The Gardens: accept Samsung Pay but the terminal will ask for the CV2 code so they have to enter the CV2 code

Massage parlour in PJ: accept Samsung Pay, no need extra information

Clinique Mid Valley: accept Samsung Pay, no need extra information

To those who wanted to use Samsung Pay at the petrol station pumps, I think your chances of it working is very slim cause I read that if you use a business card and slide it in the slot then use Samsung Pay and tap at the reader then it might work, but for my case at the pump it came out with something like "N2 error" and it didnt read the card data.

I tried at Petron.
*
I read an article about Samsung Pay that mentioned it wont work at Petrol Pump terminal because it requires physical card to be inserted into the slot. If you still want to use Samsung Pay at petrol station you must go to the cashier and tap at the cashier's terminal

Which CV2 code you insert? Code on physical card?
*
yes the code behind the physical card. strangely the terminal asked for it, not the GSC staff simply ask one

Petronas accepts all Pay Wave services...
[attachmentid=8552321]

However, you might need to EDUCATE the MANAGER...

Today was my first attempt at Petronas Bkt Jelutong...

Procedures:
1) Tell cashier to fill up full tank.
2) Finish filled up, tell cashier "Pay by Pay Wave credit card".
3) Cashier insists physical card.
4) Talk nicely (this is the difficult part...), to let their Supervisor or Manager to handle Pay Wave.
5) Supervisor/Manager also dunno how to use the Pay Wave terminal.
6) Inform nicely (again, this is the difficult part...) that it is the same steps as normal credit card.
7) Terminal awaits for swipe/tap.
8) Initiate Sammy Pay to tap the terminal.

As usual, we may have 1st world services, but ppl mindset is still 5th world...LOL...

I'm willing to spend my time to educate the Manager as this is my regular Petrol Station...Next time I fill up, they know what to do edy...

For other Petronas stations, have to go thru step 1 till 8 all over again & again & again & again....Until Apple Pay exists in Malaysia...Once Apple Pay exist, pretty much rest assure, those foreign cashiers also know how to operate complicated credit card terminals...

I agree, Samsung needs to send their PR/Technical People to Petrol Stations / Shopping Malls and visit each tenant and educate the merchants about Samsung Pay.

I have to "educate" many merchants whenever I want to use Samsung Pay and some of the merchants just totally refused to accept Samsung Pay at all sad.gif

By the way 1 more merchant supporting Samsung Pay that I discovered yesterday:

Krispy Kreme donut : tap Samsung Pay and no other information asked

Most petronas which i go yesterday (3 to 5 of them) either no paywave or they dunno how to use it. So far Guardian and Watson staff are ok one  sweat.gif
*
I doubt no paywave, I guess they simply not aware that their terminal supports paywave.

Either way, if really paywave not supported, can still use Samsung Pay, just tap at the magnetic reader of the terminal

FYI guys - ace hardware for now temporarily doesn't accept samsung pay. I went to dpulze ace hardware and they told me that some guy paid with samsung pay previously at other branch (apparently it was me cos when I mentioned I managed to successfully pay at IOI Mall ace hardware branch, he told me that they're temporarily suspending from accepting samsung pay).

a bit surprised that such a big company doesn't accept it or didnt prepare for this. interestingly, i went to caring to get some stuff and they not only accepted samsung pay - they had instructions / a "manual" for it (which probably came from samsung which is a one page flyer but nicely laminated one).

well done caring! This Malaysia pharmacy is even more up to date than a giant store like Ace Hardware. But then again, probably due to their sheer size (ace hardware), things trickle down much slower...

i guess they're suspending accepting spay because of probably the way the funds are received or something..they're probably working that out...although i don't see how that would be so different than just paying with a regular card.
*
Did you go to Caring pharmacy D'Pulze as well?

I should buy my stuffs there then.. Watsons D'Pulze somehow when try to use Samsung Pay its not accepting

Most probably can but he is not aware that the machine can "swipe" the magnetic card.

So he didn't know that it will work

Swipe the side or touch?

The machine can swipe at the side with the magnetic contact, for Samsung Pay, just touch at the magnetic side there
