That's cheap! any recommended brand from DIY?
Agree, super clear isn't as great, i find tamiya coat did very good job, but tamiya can cost even more with lesser content
I finish all my kits with semi gloss, u mean ruin as in frosting? I only encounter this once when i spray too much on the feet, but somehow manage to revert it by getting it dry and respray
DIY only carry 2 brands of clear, 1 is MR DIY another is some random brand (DIY usually has 3-4 brands but each outlet usually have 2). Mr.DIY brand usually acrylic while the other is lacquer.
they cost rm6-rm9, you can always buy 1 and test. if you spray 1-2 burst usually you get that textured semi-gloss but i usually go for Total Flat or Glossy Gloss as semi-gloss looks more like plastic.
i used both mr.top coat & super clear. both of them for flat & semi-gloss tend to frost and form booger like texture. i only did 2 bursts. their pressure is too high you have to spray from really far away. if you spray from your normal distance even 1 spray will result in frost.
and for super clear semi-gloss, the finishing is very rough abit like sandpaper.but it feels very hard & durable, however it's a dust magnet. once dust got on it's difficult to wipe off, as the rough surface will stick more fiber from the cloth.
using Mr.Hobby cans, it's impossible to achieve the fine textured finishing on matte you get from airbrushing.
but that's just for me, they work for many people, just not me.
if you want more expensive but still cheap cans, can go ace hardware. got Nippon, Lazer, Now which are between rm8-17. anyway i think i said this like 5th time.
