Your statement is partially true but doesnt applies in the overall context as outfield and GK is two different sets of players which requires different skills ..different fitness level..or in laymans term not an apple to apple comparison.

For outfield players u need backups coz there are so many games. Injury happens..rotation..suspension..tacticals etc. So ..any outfield players like midfielders they know they have more "space to fight" for a place rather than a one niche position like GK.

Sure it is nice to have 5 Hazards..5 ronaldo and 5 messi in one team but where are they going to fit in?

For gk it is a simple maths of u are a good keeper for my team. Thats it. U dont buy iker buffon and oliver kahn to rotate in a same draft.. Coz u simply dont have the room to do it. For example..pep thinks that bravo suits better than hart for his team..thats it.

Mou decided Cech is needed instead of a decent GK in PL at that time like cudicini. Mou also decided Tibo suits his taste much better in the 2nd round of his management than Cech.

If thibo left, bego is good enough. He is good keeper in epl before. I dont think thibo leaving. He enjoying his football at the moment.

i think for Tibo case, he was promised by Chelsea to be 1st choice keeper nearly a decade ago. towards the end of his loan spell at altetico, winning la liga and all, he wanted to stay there instead of coming back to Chelsea unless he is 1st choice. he also a top quality keeper, so play him instead of Cech. Cech also don wan sit bench so left the season after that.

begovic is good enough cover. he can probably walk into a few teams in PL and be first choice. probably lack of game time cause him to look off. 3rd choice keeper just there to cover in case anything happens lol.

For now Tibo and Begovic is good. unless one leaves, then we need to find someone to fill in.
