Yes, the HD2 driver is still on beta stage, dated February last year, I've shot them with two e-mail, the first one the replied they will get a new driver soon (last year) and recently I found more problem, shot them with another more angrier e-mail and they have not responded. You know what I do to this? I totally disintegrate my soundcard, I rather use onboard sound connected to DAC and improve the DAC with the components on the card itself
*
you should post the pic of your "disintegrated" HD2. laugh.gif

just curious..what kind of problem did you encounter with the beta? maybe i missed your post in Audiotrak thread. care to mention it again?

QUOTE(coolkwc @ Apr 18 2008, 01:26 AM)
ya, when i first bought my 2nd hand X-FI in January this year, from the perspective of hardware, i really thought the X-FI will sit inside my PC forever, but now it seems my thought was wrong, as the new generation of OS come out, the X-FI will lag behind far and far...

before i bought this card, my mind just got Creative, although i heard all the Audiotrak, Auzentech before, but i just not confident on that...but after i bought it, i went to the Creative forum and saw a lot of weird scenario...the criticism of the users there make me shock, after that i really went to search a lot of forum, modding forum etc...and just in three months, i found all the dark side of my card, either from hardware used or software....but is too late...

but i enjoy it, because i feel worth it for RM200++ i spent to know all this thing....at least after i got this card, i know the other brand of card, opamps, DAC and much more...

and I found that i become addicted to the sound card adi... sweat.gif
*
same case here. I've been using onboard audio since god knows when.... my first soundcard was Sound Blaster 16, and that was when the technology leaped forward and jump from the mobo's 'beep beep beep' sound to actual sound reproduction. but after that intel started to introduce the built in realtek, it's onboard all the way.

But when i got X-fi card for the first time, i got really really interested in technology behind it. that's when i started to hang out more in audiophile section. Now i know getting perfect-to-ear high fidelity costs alot!!! sigh~ i wish my wallet is capable to fulfill my desires........

got a really interesting question to ask you guys...

is there any difference in audio quality output between XP xfi driver VS vista xfi driver using the same EQ, same settings?

I'm currently using Vista but somehow everytime i use back XP and listen to my songs, it did sound a bit different, XP output seems to be abit better. I'm not sure whether it's just me or the driver really got different effects on the output .

QUOTE(songbo @ Apr 17 2008, 11:40 PM)
i hv the same feeling also. in the end i switch back to xp.. another reason i switched back to xp is creative sc driver works better in xp  doh.gif
*
QUOTE(coolkwc @ Apr 17 2008, 11:45 PM)
I feel the same thing as you...X-FI sound in Vista is rough in treble and lost detail in midrange...not too much, but is significant for me...I discovered this difference just 2 weeks ago, before that i play music in XP for so long time, thats why i feel the difference...

And i do RMAA test in Vista too, the frequency response curve got ripple after 4kHz, not as flat as in XP....
*
QUOTE(blessedvillain @ Apr 17 2008, 11:52 PM)
omg!... at least i'm not the only one who "felt" the difference...  sweat.gif

QUOTE(coolkwc @ Apr 18 2008, 02:11 AM)
some bad news here for X-FI user....

i look for my card very detail 2 days ago and i found a lot of 'G-Luxon' capacitors were used in analogue part of the card, and i just found in HERE and HERE G-Luxon was 'well known' bad cap... shocking.gif  sweat.gif  sweat.gif

So, X-Fi user please prepare for the SQ degradation coming as time passed by...

EDIT: Jamicon cap too.... sweat.gif
*
this is sad...really sad situation that creative users are being forced to into.

by the way, i'm back on XP now. What a lousy feeling. I'm so familar with Vista and now I'm back with a stone age OS, just to get those little audio details back.. vmad.gif mad.gif

you should change your speakers and get the best out of elitepro, then you will focus more on your audio/speakers instead of looking at your soundcard.. doh.gif rclxub.gif

i got a feeling that overheating might cause very obvious sound degradation. to me, listening to music during hot day is not the same during the cool and quiet night...

maybe it's just me again..tongue.gif

all these physics talk makes me blur d...hahaha...

forget physics, listening music at night is always the most enjoyable moment, regardless whether soundwaves travel faster/slower with denser/less denser air...

Honestly I never listen to how Elite Pro sounds, but I'm worried about crappy Creative drivers if I'm buying it. And why do you hide your speaker.... laugh.gif

aiya..kena shot back by you! tongue.gif

interested to know which speaker makes u dump ur aego m also  hmm.gif

The speakers i'm using now is a multimedia type speakers. compared to AegoM, really no fight in soundstage!! AegoM wins hands down in term of filling up the whole room, and the clarity. BUT...with this speakers, my rocks songs/electronica/and other music sounds better, more kicks and more power! Well...i guess, no speakers are perfect!

My brother asked me buy him speakers, so i took the opportunity to buy something i wanted to test!! brows.gif drool.gif drool.gif

QUOTE(songbo @ May 3 2008, 08:57 AM)
hm.. s750 sounds so bad in music huh?  hmm.gif
*
S750 does not sound tat bad...it's just not AegoM. I sold AegoM because it cannot handle rock music. S750 can handle more complex, distortion type of music, but i need to tune the EQ a lot of match the clarity of AegoM. under low volume, S750 clarity lost to AegoM. but when S750 is on high volume, the clarity accompany the bass very well.

Who said bookshelf speaker isn't multipurpose? My current setup is good for everything, and its a huge plus when it comes to music. I just put subwoofer for more kick in movies and games
*
bookshelf can also be "multipurpose". We have multipurpose vans to carry goods, but we can also use Porsche to "carry" goods. which is more efficient is up to the owner to decide. icon_rolleyes.gif

halo....may i know how 2 use the speaker n headphone wif elite-pro at the same time?>
*
no you cannot use both speaker + Headphone with elite pro at the same time. There's only 1 output from the card. unless you get a speaker which have additional headphone output at the remote.

or, you can try using a Y splitter which splits single output to outputs, then you can use both together. but from my experience, it degrades the SQ ALOT!
