got a really interesting question to ask you guys...
is there any difference in audio quality output between XP xfi driver VS vista xfi driver using the same EQ, same settings?
I'm currently using Vista but somehow everytime i use back XP and listen to my songs, it did sound a bit different, XP output seems to be abit better. I'm not sure whether it's just me or the driver really got different effects on the output .

I feel the same thing as you...X-FI sound in Vista is rough in treble and lost detail in midrange...not too much, but is significant for me...I discovered this difference just 2 weeks ago, before that i play music in XP for so long time, thats why i feel the difference...
And i do RMAA test in Vista too, the frequency response curve got ripple after 4kHz, not as flat as in XP....

omg!... at least i'm not the only one who "felt" the difference...

some bad news here for X-FI user....
i look for my card very detail 2 days ago and i found a lot of 'G-Luxon' capacitors were used in analogue part of the card, and i just found in
HERE and
HERE G-Luxon was 'well known' bad cap...
So, X-Fi user please prepare for the SQ degradation coming as time passed by...
EDIT: Jamicon cap too....

this is sad...really sad situation that creative users are being forced to into.
by the way, i'm back on XP now. What a lousy feeling. I'm so familar with Vista and now I'm back with a stone age OS, just to get those little audio details back..
