yap, i check adi, the coupling cap voltage is 2v only...the ori wincap couling cap is 22uf 16v, and sanyo oscon only got 22uf 20v....for the DSP supply cap the voltage only about 1.2v, so my 680uf 4v is more than enough adi...

EDIT: thats why i suggest that using Panasonic blackgate 2200uf in Head-fi actually is overkill...

EDIT: OMG, just test the RMAA, all 3 distortion and intermodulation test went down 10% after i only change the DSP supply cap, unbelievable...

EDIT2: well, i have addicted on modding so i take out the card once again and do "second phase" modding ...i desolder the Rubycon MBZ 1000uf 10v from still working MX440 GC and put into the C46 opamp supply cap....OMG, this time i really hear the different when i plug the earphone and set it to max bass + max volume...the image the of bass still there and the sound only suffer minor distortion even on those setting compare with unmodded...huge different man... BTW, i think i will change that cap to another later because the cap is too 'fat' and actually the cap already 5-6 year...

Well, i take out my card again for just half an hour , being poisoned so severely, i start my "third phrase" modding ...this time i changed C16, C107, C91, C119 DAC supply cap to 3XRubycon MBZ 1000uf 10v and 1XPanasonic FL 680uf 4v solid cap...as before, the midrange more pronounced(maybe ) and no distortion on high volume+max bass....well i had finish all my caps, no more modding until July...

my friend, need to make some request to you, can you stated which caps you replaced and what is the new caps value?

most of the X-Fi users suffer this problem, doesn't matter...

My mod so far is free except the electricity bill... all my caps take from dead mobo, high quality also...

Hehe, just finished my 'fourth phrase' modding by swapping the cap that you gonna to swap soon...

National LM4562 too popular adi, nothing special, bro make it special, use LME49720MA...

swap front stereo to LME49720 and real stereo to LM4562 to test which one is suit your taste...i plan to do so...

hey, you can try another opamp rather than LME49720, make it special...such as LT1364, LT1361, or even AD8599..

EDIT: actually i have mix feeling about my mod so far...no audible defect in listening, but RMAA test in Entertainment mode produced bad results for sampling rate over 44.1kHz, something like below...



the level was uneven, same as UNDERGROUND posted before(actually took from UNDERGROUND) only in Entertainment mode, others mode are all normal...although i know you won't bother the RMAA anymore, but i'm the person who very care about the subjective and objective test as well, but i still wonder what had causing this problem, my modded cap so far were

C72, C74, C75, C43 -->Rubycon MBZ 1000uf 16v,
C46, 91, 107, 119 -->Rubycon MBZ 1000uf 10v,
C16 -->Panasonic FL 680uf 4v



the problem start occur after i finished the so call 'fourth phase' mod by swapped the C72, 74, 75, 43, 16 and 119...and according to Trodas and others DIYers those cap should be the DAC and opamps supply caps, so suppose shouldn't have problem even change it...thats why i still think simply replace the cap without consideration on the capacity will bring some problem, and the cap function not as easy as i thought...

but i really like the look of my card now, the cap were too beautiful , if can, i don't wish to change it to OSCON(because it is so expensive), but after that problem, now i'm struggle whether want to order those expensive good OSCON... and i plan to swap the cap with the same value as original..

24bit? for what? you can't adjust bit depth through control panel as in Vista...and you no need to adjust too if you are playing 16bit music file since it won't bring any audible improvement...

hehe, my main problem is not the spike, but is uneven level of graph which cause by interchannel leakage, you can see my previous graph the right channel higher than left...if i'm not mistaken, the DAC should running 192khz 24bit during stereo mode as stated in Creative website...well, i ruin one of the capacitor lead hole on the board yesterday, the hole just rip from the board after i solder/desolder the same place for more than 3 times , it really make me mad...

well my card still functional and still look beautiful also , can't see the tapped wire, the broken traces was on the component side, is C16...but i'm unhappy because the card not perfect in my heart now although it is only little defection...but the good news was since the card was imperfect now, it gave me a reason to mod it 'kaw kaw'...

EDIT: i don't have camera now, need to wait until July...

Creative adi released beta driver, Console Launcher beta and DVD-Audio Player beta dated 2 Jun...for me, nothing special about Daniel_K modded driver if using WinXP...and the beta driver adi restore the Dolby function that missing in Vista, so no point to use modded driver anymore...i'm now downloading, will post my comment on those driver later..

yap, more than a week i even don't know about it because recently this thread became 'X-FI modding' thread...

Yap, gaming this card is awesome... I test battlefield2 before, got little compatible issue, need to update the game to latest patch, and others sound card can't compare with it...

not much improved in this new driver, but for me it is good because the uneven level of THD, DR and Noise test in RMAA all solved, so i think it might modified something such as sampling rate in Entertainment mode...still discover something new now....unfortunately the ASIO bug still there, make it major drawback of this driver..

the pitch become higher when using foobar + Creave ASIO ....and after using ASIO windows need 5 minutes to restart/shutdown, this problem exist from the beginning, not fixed, i don't know whether you all got problem or not...

EDIT: hehe, shame to tell you all i just know how to use all the slider/effect/button in Audio Creation Mode today although i own this card for nearly 5 months , anyway very funny to tweak around and i will use it in future rather than Entertainment mode...but need to find the way to fix the ASIO problem first.
