Hi People. I bought a new Sony Vaio VGN-Z12GN last week. After upgrading the memory to 4GB. I was looking forward to do a clean install of Vista Ultimate x64. But than I realised there isn't any x64 drivers for it. Anybody made an upgrade to x64 before on their Vaio who would like to share their experieces? Thanks in advance.

Thanks Miyabi for your reply. I did look at the discussion on the notebookreview forum but I'm not really comfortable using the non official or unstable x64 driver. I think I will wait it out until Sony does an official release. BZ is also a sweet machine. Hope it come to a store near you soon. Cheers and good day. laugh.gif

Bro,

If you really have the time and a spare copy of windows vista, I would actually recommend doing a clean wipe and fresh install. This is to ensure unwanted threads hanging in your registry. But than again if you're short on resources, just go with the remove option. I'm actually waiting for the x64 drivers before wiping off mine and going 64-bit. brows.gif

I'm an owner of the Z myself and I agree that the only thing lacking is a blu-ray drive. Other than that I have no complains and it's worth every single cent I paid for.

Jacklsw86, the reason why you are still seeing 32-bit processing system is due to the fact that most of the VAIO laptops models sold in Malaysia do not have the option of choosing the Windows 64-bit OS. As for the biometric fingerprint reader, it's function is definately useful and worth having on modern days laptops, but the major problem I'm facing with my VAIO Z is that the fingerprint reader is too sensitive.

Just wanted to know whether the Z series is no more in production.

It is still in production, just that they discontinued the VGN-12G/B and came out with the VGN-26 and VGN-27 which has a Blu-ray drive.
