Dear all sifus here,

I am currently looking at this bike,

Model : Giant Composite 1 (2010).
Is it a good buy below RM4k?

Shimano 105 set less than 4k??

Tempted oso leh...

Is this bike worth it? It's with the new 105(2010) groupset. But the wheelset is Giant, which needed to be upgraded in the later stage. Total weight of the bike is 8.4kg....

Still thinking to buy or not???

Any chance u can bring additional bike to malaysia when u are back?
*
it's difficult as I am based in Bkk.... so i will buy this bike and then bring it back to Bangkok....

the shop owner told me there are a few options to bring it back in Malaysia.
1) check in by yourself ( cheapest option, if your luggage weight permits)
2) by ship
3) by air

As some of my colleagues might take the option 2.... for me to carry it back for you, i am really sorry, coz i need to be back in bkk and then I have no idea when i will only coming back to KL... as all my business trips are uncertains....

Added on July 29, 2010, 1:16 amhuhuhuhu... got the bike already.... did 10km with my colleague at a cycling trail in Taipei... Taipei is superbly friendly for cyclist....
happy with the bike.... kekekke...

but had plenty to explain to my GF...

Wow, that is a high tax rate for complete racing bike. Cant you just tell them that you are going to BKK for a cycling holiday. Cycling thru the beautiful and greenery Chiang Mai. Just say you going there for holiday la.
*
for the pass 2 years, I had been in and out of Thailand almost every single month.... damn sad la... searching via forum, some ppl got lucky to get away and others need to pay eventhough it's an old bike....

even my gf in thailand call them saying that I will be bringing a racing bike(sports equipment), but it was rejected as Thai customs regards bike as a mode of transportation.....

as this trip back to Bkk will only last few days before i travel to Manila.... damn headache la... shouldnt have got the bike if i know bout this KNN 30% tax....

my friend recommend me to send direct to Malaysia, but it's useless coz i am barely back to Malaysia....

Oooh , nice to see a cycling thread here smile.gif Is there any place in KL to rent a good road bike? I have a bike back in the UK like this one (with SPD-SL of course biggrin.gif)

user posted image

Since coming to KL I've been very lazy, hardly ever using the gym as cycling outside so much better, sitting on a bike in the gym really boring for me.

I considered to ship my bike from UK to KL, but not sure if its a good idea or not? I live in KL Sentral and can't think of anywhere reasonable around here to cycle and the traffic quite bad also, I never see anyone cycling around here! Also I don't drive, so difficult for me to get out to other places to go cycling sad.gif

finally, my bike is now fully equiped.... bought Cateye Strada Wireless, airpump, tube, finish line chain degreaser + lube + shop quality chain cleaner, and a few more additional sets of jerseys....

no need to spend big money anymore for the bike.... unless i wanna upgrade to a brand new set of wheels...

** may i know how long you guys practise the clipless before going on road? i still dont have the guts going to the main traffic in Bangkok with my new SPD SL clipless... afraid falling and getting knock by the cars....

my 1st drop from the bike is really funny... not sure whether u guys face before.... it was damn awkward... i know i am supposed to unlock yet unable to... kekekkekeke....
but i am gaining more confident... should be able to cycle on the main road soon... had been cycling in the condo parking... the security guards are damn curious of wat am i doing as i keep lock and unlocking which create some noises... kekekekeekekekeke...
1st drop was also hurtful for my bike and shoes... scratch the pedals, back derailure and shoes..... but it was funny... hehehehhe

I joined the Duathlon race instead.... well i think i fare quite decent as i didnt train as much as i wanted....

so here are the results for a first timer, for 5km run+ 40km cycle+ 10km run = 3 hours and 33 mins....

the last 10km run was the killer, walk almost half of it... sad.gif

Funny, i go to Chiangmai almost every year for past 3 years for some downhill action and never did i get taxed at all! Mayb u should just pack it in a seasoned cardbox and declare is as a used bike or somethin.
*
guess Azizul and also Josiah arent men same goes to Armstrong and gang.... whistling.gif whistling.gif whistling.gif

anyway, managed to get the bike there without any hassle... but do take note of plenty foreigners being taxed bringing the bike into thailand if u refer to thailand's forums..... me just sharing info here but it might not help many....
