Hi, just found this thread, been a long time readers of comics and didn't know there was a place discussing them in Malaysia.

One thing I noticed, a few suggestions for people to find books from ebay or the US with high postage. Take a look at this site: www.thebookdepository.com they deliver to Malaysia postage free. I have used them many times and they are great. They lost one order but I emailed them and they just sent the book out again at no extra charge so highly recommended for trades, they carry just about everything available.

Try Frank Miller's other stuff, Daredevil Visionaries is a good series to get.

wow...thanks for sharing this awesome website...its even cheaper than kinokuniya! wahahah im gonna be so poor next month
*
My pleasure, I've found them so useful I wanted to share. I used to live in KL and use Kinokuniya but now in Penang and Borders is better than nothing but very inconsistent and slow to get new stuff.

The company is based in the UK so you have to wait around 1-2 weeks for the books but that's okay for the price and the stock they have.

bro, shipping is free - and conversion alone cheaper dy...

Yes conversion shouldn't be an issue as Kino already buy in US$ or pounds and then convert by exchange rate for the RM price.

As an example Kino price for the latest Captain America trade is RM51.15. The Book Depository is $13.99 which converts to RM41.30 as there's 21% off.

The only downside is you need to wait for them to arrive compared to buying in the shop.

Yeah not dissing Kino they are great and have their own offers, even if you go to a bookshop in the US they don't stock half as many trades as Kino. If you don't live in KL though it's not so great.

Yeah Penang Borders has a decent amount but it is badly managed. They often have volumes missing and it gets quite messy. Not bad for a bookshop but not a patch on Kino.

Sadly Kino's website is like some geocities fan page from 1998. They need an upgrade bigtime.

Good. I think after 10 years Marvel need some changes.

Well the interesting part is out Axel, who's X-Men handler now?
*
I'd like to see them hand it to Steve Wacker, he's proved himself on 52 and Spider-Man that he can handle complicated stories with multiple books and creators and make it run smoothly.

gotham central- i always miss that one. it has been cancel right?
*
Gotham Central finished years ago. It is a good series though.

For single issues and liking Batman I'd have to recommend Batman Inc and Dark Knight as they are still on only issue 2 or so.

THat means they send via ship?

How's the package? Books in good condition?

Any type of genres can go through custom then?
*
Yeah they send via ship, the books take about 2 weeks to arrive.

For customs - they randomly open your parcels, maybe 1 in 8. If you order something controversial then you play the lottery that they won't open that one. If it has sexual content I'd advise getting from Kino or Borders to be safe.

Turner was great, sadly missed.

I got Thor: The Mighty Avenger from the BD today, such a fun comic. Recommended.

Yeah. Too bad the book ends in issue 8.
*
Yup it's a pity but I'd still recommend for people to try out the collection. It's really all 'done-in-one" stories with not much continuity so they can be enjoyed without worrying the story will end quickly. Maybe if the trade sells enough they may do some more, you never know.

wasn't aware of this until too late. is the trade out? 1-4?
*
Yes just got the trade, it is issues 1-4 and also some backup with the first every Lee / KirbyEven stories from the 1960s. Even though it was cancelled Marvel have already solicited the second trade.

Bear in mind though if you like grim and gritty comics this is not one of them, it's very light and funny but I loved it. Especially issue 4 where Thor and the Warriors 3 go out and get drunk.

Just finished reading Green Lantern: Secret Origins , truly a remarkable superhero this Green Lantern, and I was hooked!

So, went to Kino today to continue down the reading order that LordSauron recommended and Rebirth and Revenge of the Green Lanterns were sold out! sad.gif

So, I bought Wanted: Hal Jordan and Green Lantern: The SinistroCorp Wars volume 1 and 2!

Think there are some stories and arcs I missed like, who the hell is Parallax and what happened before? Anyways, small matter...am still enjoying the read..
*
Rebirth really recaps anything you'd need to know about Hal and Parallax and the Lanterns. Pity it was sold out as it's the best starting point. Maybe Borders have a copy?

I'm looking forward more to The Wolverine, even though the last one was a bit crap this has got the writer of The Usual Suspects, Darren Aronofsky directing and is based on the brilliant Claremont and Miller mini series set in Japan.

I just tell my wife it's a fairy harmless hobby, I could be into drugs or gambling so be thankful it's comics!

When did everyone here start reading comics? I go way back 25 years or more following the X-Men and bought Watchmen as it came out in issues.

I've been reading the Judge Dredd Case Files, features all of Dredd in really huge volumes from the start. Really great stuff and excellent value.

One fun part is that Dredd and cast actually move in real time and the mix of humour and drama is well done. If all you know of Dredd is the crappy Sylvester Stallone film, forget that the comic is much better.

I have all of Uncanny X-Men #174 - 295. I went off it after Claremont left, too many crossovers.
