it's a pity the furry one was killed.i like his character.
also, the funeral eulogy was rather touching, especially Logan's speech.

dont forget about digital scans = free comic downloads.
that contribute to the dwindling comic sales. i stopped montly subscriptions back in 2006 and nowadays i mostly buy TPs with nice, painted artwork.storyline matters little to me as my priority is on art. |

i've stopped my monthly subscription after discovering free digital scans.
however, as i mentioned earlier, i still purchase TPs once a month . i agree with Sauron76 ,reading the digital scans beforehand had saved me lotsa moolah from otherwise buying comics with crap artwork. but 90% of the time,i only clicked thru the first 5 pages for the artwork of downloaded comics.i dont think i've ever read any of the text .heheh. advantages of downloaded comics 1)it's free 2)saves storage space 3)helps you from making a mistake buying comics that you aren't satisfied 4)eliminating the time waiting for comics to arrive at newstand or comic shops however, there's nothing more pleasing than holding a comic and flipping the pages.and you can read it anywhere. i love TPs ,saves me time from hunting released issues and eliminating those 8-10 pages of ads.plus you get some additional content not found in single issues.and it's cheaper by a few bucks.the downside is you've gotta wait for months before they are released. I subscribed to single issues on a monthly basis for 6 years before switching to pure TP collection .
I find that I am not losing but actually saving in terms of cost by buying TPs.New single issues whether purchase from newsstands or from specialty shops usually don't have discounts whereas TPs are given a 10-15% discounts. That's my experience with TPs. Plus ,no ads and you can read them in one compilation and there are some exclusive stuff included not found in single issues ,like special intro by the writer ,sketches and additional cover art. Also I am used to the waiting period since I dont have time to read the comics anyway. |

i prefer Dark Horse Omnibus and IDW Omnibus. costs around RM85 and consists of over 300-450 pages.
plus the books are in digest format ,which is why its cheaper. |

QUOTE(Phonzy @ Jan 13 2011, 09:46 AM) I bought single issues 1-10 and stopped and that was back in 2005.was tempted by the seductive covers and the story concept where the fairy tales as we know it were presented in a more horrific and gruesome form. I've never read a single issue of Walking Dead due to it been a B&W series ,despite me being a zombie fan.
But after watching all 6 ep. of the TV series ,I'm hooked. Hope to find the omnibus at Borders Penang. Not keen on collecting single iss ala WD Weekly. THE DEAD WALK EACH WEEK IN 2011 Image Comics announces THE WALKING DEAD WEEKLY and new Omnibus Are you excited about THE WALKING DEAD on AMC, but you’ve never had the chance to read the hit comic book series that inspired it? Starting in January 2011, Image Comics will be reprinting the single issues of the hit series — shipping one issue per week all year long! “Keeping a series like this going year after year is all about creating good jumping-on-points for new readers,” says series creator and writer Robert Kirkman. “And what better way to jump on than with the very first issue? Making this series available in single issue form will make it easier for new fans to jump on board and for old fans to fill in any gaps in their collection.” January will see the release of the following issues: THE WALKING DEAD WEEKLY #1 January 5 Starting in this issue, Rick Grimes awakens to a world he’s not prepared for. This small town cop must now fight the forces of the undead while he searches for his missing wife and son. This is the issue that started it all! THE WALKING DEAD WEEKLY #2 January 12 Rick Grime’s horrific adventure continues. Everything he knew is gone, and the search for his family begins. Rick sets out for Atlanta, the last known location of his wife and son. THE WALKING DEAD WEEKLY #3 January 19 Now reunited with his family, Rick Grime’s focus shifts from survival to protection. It’s one thing to know that you have to watch your back every second of every day. It’s another thing entirely to have to worry about losing your family in the blink of an eye. THE WALKING DEAD WEEKLY #4 January 26 It is decided that in order to survive… every person at the camp should have guns. As it is, they don’t have enough to go around and the only place to get more guns is the city, but it means certain death to go into the city. Is Rick crazy enough to risk his life for the good of the camp? You will also be able to pick up THE WALKING DEAD OMNIBUS, VOL. 3 in January 2011. Collecting issues #49-72, the OMNIBUS is a deluxe oversized and slipcased hardcover. It’s perfect for long time fans, new readers and anyone needing a heavy object with which to fend off the walking dead. The omnibus is strictly limited to a print run of 3000. THE WALKING DEAD WEEKLIES (#1: NOV100410; #2: NOV100411; #3: NOV100412; #4: NOV100413), each a 32-page black-and-white comic book for $2.99, will be in stores each Wednesday of January 2011. THE WALKING DEAD OMNIBUS, VOL. 3 (regular edition: NOV100442, $100; signed and numbered edition: NOV100443, $150), a 560-page oversized slipcased hardcover, will be in stores January 5, 2011. |

Newsarama has gotten confirmation that both Wizard Magazine and ToyFare Magazine will be ending their print runs. Wizard will continue, starting February 2011, as a digital magazine entitled "Wizard World", accompanied by a 12 city convention tour. ToyFare isn't so lucky, with word being that the printed version will simply cease operations.
This ends the near 20 year print run for Wizard Magazine. ToyFare, originally an offshoot of Wizard, has been in print since 1997. With the ever growing popularity of toy blogs, daily breaking news and leaked pre-production toys, it was only a matter of time for something like this to occur. A sad day for toy fans. |
