QUOTE(1024kbps @ Jul 11 2021, 04:41 PM) does not sounds too bad, my Toshiba has similar sounds as both are also 7200rpm drive, it sounds worse and louder. Do you mind to share how your Toshiba holding up still? Is the drive still working and what the age of the drive? for hdd abnormal sound, you should google for clicks of death and head crash. If you're worried about data protection, invest on cloud drive and multiple hdd for redundancy, it cost much less than data recovery. First time hearing this kind of sound on HDD feel strange as my old seagate with 7200rpm does not have the noise. Will just use this WD drive to backup something less important. |

QUOTE(xxboxx @ Jul 12 2021, 05:09 PM) Yup, if zero then drive should be ok. I'm using the WD Utilities to run that SMART, and it only show thisUnreadable/unwritable sector is one of the sign that the drive have issue. But it won't be able to tell how long can the drive still be alive. Reassigned Sector Count: 0 Power-On Hours Count: 20 Drive Power Cycle Count: 4 Temperature: 33C SATA/PCIe CRC Error Count: 0 Where can I get the unreadable/unwritable sector? |
