i think u use wrong term, u mean electric shock from the casing when u touch it rite?
in that case that is a posibility of weak PSU not earth properly.
the PSU should hav a line connects earth line with the psu case, and the psu case physically touching the cpu case allows the excessive charges (caz by fan n etc) being drawn to earth line.

if case of short circuit, i hav no idea what u trying to tell by casing short circuited tongue.gif

wut u can do:
1. try to plug in the power cable firmly at the back of ur psu and the multisocket
2. change the multisocket
3. plug direct in to the wall socket
4. ur house grounding problem,

Hi,

if your room is carpeted, it's better u touch ur door b4 u touch ur casing. I do that all the time to avoid getting sparked by the casing whenever I touch or turn it off. It's bcoz of the carpet.

Static versus poor grounding?

What case are you using by the way? A completely steel case? Which PC component has a live connection connected to your case? Most electrical wires should be shielded away from the surface of the case it touches.

Most components will rely on the PC case for grounding as well besides using the house grounding via the PSU. But of course that is not the normal practice as if you would need to rely on 1 source of grounding, there is a load difference between the house ground and from your electronic circuit grounding.

there has been alot of people complaining about the same thing before here in LYN....

and most if not all of the complains were caused by their extension cables used (aka multi socket extensions etc.). changing the extension usually solves the problem.

Usually its because the ground connection through extension wires is not very good; casing ends up not being grounded.

I've used that PSU before, the PSU case is grounded and the casing should also be grounded since it contacts the PSU (mostly through the screws, as that PSU is painted). Its most likely a wiring problem, nothing to do with your PSU or chassis.

You using multiple adapter or not? or you use the 4 trailing sockets.... the thing is the multiple adapters should never be used at all..

direct to the wall socket? no multiple adaptors used at all?
not even on the trailing socket... that in that case...your earthing got problem already... try to tape the edges of your power supply that touch your case..see whether got or not? and the screws to mount the power supply ..in between the power supply and the case..try that see whether got or not? ...just use this method to see whether got power leak ...and if still got try to plug out you VGA cable... sometimes from monitor oso can gua
