The V-Amp2 is a pretty decent modeler, but it's a bit to digital for MY taste..... plus... you have to spend extra for an expression pedal.
If you're a beginner and want something to try out different effects and what not..... the Korg ag1500x is a good choice. Not as digital sounding as the Zoom G2.1u or V-Amp2 and has a built-in expression pedal..... but if you're after recording features.... then the Zoom G2.1u, even though digital sounding, has a USB connector and recording software.

If you have a bigger budget, I would recommend the Vox Tonelab SE if you're concerned about tone quality, Digitech Guitar Workstation for Recording Options, POD XT Live for an insane amount of effects or the GT-8 for great recognizability.....
