I have saw a review complaining about the ping of tactile switch on this keyboard . Can I know what is the ping he described about ?? thank you  biggrin.gif  biggrin.gif

I did not experience any "ping" on my unit with MX clear switches or at least none that my peasant ears could detect

Will there be any additional tax when the kb reaches here?
*
Only applicable tax is 6% GST when clearing Kastam. But if the shipment value is below RM1k, usually will "escape".

Thinking of buying 1 but no idea wether will get tax or not. Wife wont be happy if knowing that I spend that amount of money for a keyboard.

Ya I tried HHKB before, it's Topre switch and I like the tactile feeling, almost like Cherry MX Blue but without the clicking noise. The tactile in Topre might not as strong and the key press is lighter a bit, but that's the closest switch I can find that simulate Cherry MX Blue without the noise.

The so called Cherry MX Brown which claim to have the tactile feel of blue switch but without the noise is totally a lie, I tried side by side with both my left and right hand pressed at the same time, can't get the tactile feel.
Lol you go around and advertise it is it?  sweat.gif  sweat.gif

Anyway I ordered one  icon_rolleyes.gif , please take care of the item ya  notworthy.gif

If you like tactile but non-clicky switches, there are not many options insofar as mass-market/conventional products are concerned because you will only have brown switches from Cherry, Gateron, Kailh, etc. Hence, some of us opt for custom boards with Zealios switches, which have very pronounced tactile bump/feel.

Thanks for letting know about this case, it's really beautiful, too bad it's sold out.
I just bought a new keyboard, please don't poison me  sweat.gif  sweat.gif

Btw, in term of durability, Topre switch won't last as long as Cherry MX switch right?

You probably will have an "itch" long before the dome/switch fail

my 1st foray into mechanical kibod..

just bought a Redragon K553 kibod for 220...

ya.. i knw is not real cherry mx switch.. but according to reviews.. is a great budget kibod..

It's always good to start somewhere, low budget especially. This way, you can go through different boards with different switch types without burning a big hole in your wallet. Eventually, you will experience what suits you best. Then, go for better boards from there.

Can anyone recommend me a budget mechanical keyboard that below RM80? Basically i just use it play Dota 2. Thanks.

You can try to search in GS section and lowball second hand/used MKB sellers. If you are expecting to get a new MKB with that budget, good luck!

Hey guys. It's been a while since I explore MKB stuff, I'd like to ask something about MKB. My custom made Magicforce 68 Gateron White had a few switches that were spoilt ( double register) and I swapped them out. The age of the keyboard is about 6-8 months

Is this considered as normal for Gateron White since it's only 35g? The spoilt switches are the commonly used for FPS game.

I'm also thinking of building a new mini layout MKB. Any new MKB pcb available on Taobao? Budget below rm500 without the key caps.

My goal is to make MKB with Gateron Red/similar. Preferably without LED too as they're too troublesome.

sweet this is a good idea that i haven't tried out yet. i wanna see if it can make the board more quiet, too

mind to share how you did it? what brand of non-slip pad is that? where to get it?
*
You can use kitchen drawer liners or rubber anti slip mats (those that you put on car dashboards). For me, I used automotive dampening pad for my Norbaeur case

Hi guys. Any comment on Drevo Calibur/Tyrfing? And if i purchase from armyourdesk.com will kena kastam tax?
*
Generally if the landed cost is under RM500, you will likely not be charged GST. If above RM500, it will be your luck. A case in point, several of us bought the Input Club K-type which shipped recently. Price was USD216 shipped. Some of us escaped GST while some were not so lucky.

kailh box switches arrived (black, red, brown, and white).

at first glance, imo they're smooth, have relatively less wobble stems at stock.

- black is the heavier linear;
- red is light linear;
- brown has but somewhat weaker tactile bumps at the beginning of key press (it's the opposite of cherry mx brown, which happens after key press)
- white is like cherry mx blue, which has the clicky effects (the click bar helps produce sharper effects; again, tactile bumps are different from cherry mx blue imo)

the housing of kailh box switches are different from cherry mx style switches. (mainly they're for anti-dust/water standards) these switches are all meant for smd-type leds if you're into baclklit boards.

for kailh box linear switches, the first impressions are actually not bad. now i really hope there will be silent versions of their linear switches.

btw about silent linear switches, gateron silent is a disappointment. the current better option for switches to build a silent board is still lubed cherry mx silent linear imo. (the comparison is based on what i have now; not including zilents mod or the zeal silents/zilents)

Good to know. I have some box brown incoming

nice! bro you're a heavy tactile guy, kailh box brown is just like cherry mx brown in terms of spring weight. i guess you will swap at least the springs later lol

edit: i have done lubing for kailh box red. (i have read that kailh box switches are pre-lubed; however, just to be sure, i lubed them. again.)

imo,
- the improvement of switch smoothness is not significant after lubing. (compared to cherry mx and gateron switches. for these two you will notice the change of smoothness right away, with cherry mx more apparent than gateron) i think they're actually pre-lubed already. (this is actually not bad. you can just grab these box switches, enjoy the nice smoothness out-of-box, without doing anything!)

- the silencing effect with thick lube is also not that noticeable. (maybe i did it wrong; i just painted all the contact points between stems and housing, and its spring, that i think will cause frictions)
*
That's the plan. I have 80g springs that I could use to make them "heavier".
