Guys,

Im looking at this both cars. I know they're in different league but both are eye catching. In terms of maintenance & durability, how would it sum up over the years? Spare parts easy?

I'd think the WRX STI is easier and cheaper to maintain coz it's Japanese, the engine is more or less still the same for many years already so got many parts available, more workshops who understand the car, and many more mod options. More importantly it's much faster, it's AWD, and available in manual which is the version you should go for! Then you'd have a fun car to drive.

A250 is just like a Golf GTI actually.

For service interval and cost, try ask sc. Hope they can help.

From there you can have the range of price.

I like both cars wub.gif

the question we will ask is how trashy will you drive or what mods.
if everyday hantam at every red lights, and drive crazy, either sure will be costly.

but in terms of parts, my vote for sti
if u can cari jalan buy aftermarket, and or don't do crazy mod's,
sti will tolorate much trashing, but if drive sanely then it will last no problems. (plz use proper ron97)
subbies boxers are known to run no oil change, but just top up's in the outback's.

a250 anytime many workshop will walap price cuz 3 cross.
but it will win in terms of DDrive comfort, not the best but still better.
oh did i even mention electronics in merc's whistling.gif

Mercedes maintenance is surely more expensive than Subaru. Like I said above, the Subaru engine is more or less still the same for decades already so maintenance should not be much issue, while the A250 is still relatively much newer car. If I were you, it's a no brainer really, just get the WRX STI manual. The only Mercs worth considering now in this type of segment IMHO is the mighty AMG A45, others are just for show off that will blow a big hole in the pocket.

As for the 2.0 power compared to 2.5, the 2.5 should have more power & torque in stock form but after mod I think the 2.0 is plenty powerful then coupled with the 6 speed manual then you might feel it's faster and actually would have more fun, plus you should have a bit more options to mod too. Road tax of the 2.5 also more than double (rm390 vs rm880) if that's a consideration point for you. Automatic for this kind of car IMHO is a big no as it totally misses the point!

how much the price and % loan you get for each?

A200 250 gaining number on the road but subaru is still quite rare.

If I were given to pick 1 to serve me for long duration, I would go for Subaru over A250.

1. Service - I think (not really sure) Subaru much cheaper. Try Aiman Motor glenmarie, ask them to email etc.

2. Spare part and Modification - a lot of aftermarket part can be swap. Kakimotor etc.

For inspiration, the concept car

looking at grb or gvb?

coming from a gdb owner, if daily a250, if weekend warrior then grb/gvb.

a250 are crazy quick with a tune. more than enough for red-light races.

maintenance question are moot. oil changes price wont differ by much. RANDOM stuff will break down RANDOMLY on both cars, there lies the gamble you take for buying recond/second hand. a250 might break its DCT or a crank sensor might die on your STI during your ownership. or the other way round.

front o2 sensor 1k.
225/17 ad08r around 2.5k for a set of 4.

using Torco SR1.

Project MU B-spec pads and SCR rotors (cheapest jor, couldnt afford the 2-piece ones), Brembo quoted similar price too.

Huh Project Mu stuff so expensive meh? I also use Project Mu's B Spec pads and slotted rotors, only rm525-550 for the pads and around rm1.1-1.3k for the rotors, so total still around 1.8k for the front. If top up for the rear brakes also maybe double to around 4k max but still nowhere near 6k. Or you use floating rotors?

2.5 ltr should have more torque in low-mid rpm but 2.0 may rev higher and yeah probably more well proven for high HP mods.

nah not the floating ones just normal slotted. iirc i paid 2k+- for each pair of rotors and 1k+ for the pads. where you get 1.3k? i'll get from your source next time.

Wah you surely got taken to the cleaners leh. I bought mine at Kakimotor and N1 Sunway actually but most other places sell similar prices like I said too, at max just rm100-200 more expensive, not double like yours! I was shocked when I read your prices. sweat.gif

Your oil change price also very expensive leh.

Hi Guys,

Sorry for asking too much as I intend to buy a used WRX STI ver 10 sedan manual manufactured in 2013. The car was imported through Motor Image and has travelled about 45k over the last 4 years with the first owner.

If possible I want to know the following from you:

1. Should I go ahead and purchase the car?
2. What is the cost for maintenance and servicing?
3. What sort of wear and tear always occur to the car?
4. Any major engine or other parts problems that I should expect from car?
5. Any helpful tips before I make the purchase such as things to look out etc?

Your replies are much appreciated. I know some of the questions might have been answered previously but another round of answers are needed to convince myself to make the purchase

Cheers
