I think since there is a lot of people who are having problems to install Android Auto, I'll be using this post to share how I install the latest Android Auto from APK Mirror. If you don't know what is Android Auto, or APK Mirror - go Google it, I won't spend time explaining any of this to you. If you don't trust APK Mirror, stop here, and wait until Google releases it for Malaysia officially. If you fully understand this and wish to proceed to install, read on! - Caveat - I'm using the Chrome browser and Galaxy Note 3. Your experience may differ slightly.

1. Browse to APK Mirror (Android Auto) on your phone via this link: http://www.apkmirror.com/apk/google-inc/android-auto/

2. Scroll down, and choose the latest version (as of 1 December 2016, the latest release is Android Auto 2.0.6427 dated on 30 November 2016)

3. Scroll down, and choose the correct version for your Android - this may be confusing for some. Galaxy Note 3 uses arm. My guide here shows what happens if you download and install arm64 - completely safe, but installation will fail. You would just need to choose again - or download Droid Hardware Info to find our your Android's CPU architecture type. More information here http://android.wonderhowto.com/how-to/andr...64-x86-0168051/

4. Scroll down, and choose Download APK

5. Click OK to download

6. Wait for the download to complete, then go to your file manager (or My Files in Samsung) and click on the downloaded APK file - I usually just go to Download History as it lists all recently downloaded items.

7. A pop-up will come out saying "Install Blocked - For security, your phone is set to block installation of apps obtained from unknown sources". Click on Settings. (Can't screenshot this though...)

8. Click on "Unknown sources - Allow installation of applications from both trusted and unknown sources".

9. Leave the "Allow this installation only" checkbox. Click on OK.

10. Android Auto should install now. If it fails, it means that you installed the wrong version/architecture type. You need to select the right APK for your CPU type. Below is a screenshot of Droid Hardware Info on my Samsung Galaxy Note 3.

You can use Android Auto even if your car isn't connected. Waze integration is not here yet, but will arrive in Q1 2017. Be patient.

Hope the guide above helps you all install Android Auto on your phone. It needs Android 5 and above though... So if your Android version is lower than 5, you need to update your OS, or get a new phone biggrin.gif

Guys, my car just alerted me that I have 1500 kms to service A.

My mileage now is at around 7000 km with my next 10000 km service due in Jan 2017.

Is it possible to do both service A and 10000 km service at the same time?

What is the difference between the service intervals and what would your advice be?
*
Even if your engine oil still have some kilometres to go to Service A, you will have to do Service A on reaching 6 months.
Oil change is every 10,000 km or what the Maintenance Minder indicates or every 6 months, whichever comes first.
Mileage service is every 10,000 km or every 6 months, whichever comes first.

Assuming you got your car in July 2016 ..
If in Jan 2017, your car hasn't reach 10,000 km & you still have oil life, SC will do Service A & 10,000 km mileage service.

It looks to me like you will be doing Service A & mileage service together in Jan 2017. smile.gif

Not true, if touch wood, anything happen to the car, you still have to send your car back to Honda SC to fix it (because of the warranty). The insurance is just there to pay your bill only. The process is still the same if you use honda or other's insurance service.

PS: if accident happen, and you let other workshop to fix your car during the warranty period, your car warranty will be void.
*
I tend to agree more with you on this.

Last time when I made an insurance claim, I was told I can go back to the "car franchisor" (ie. SC) no matter which insurer & even if not listed as authorized workshop.
(I noticed that franchisor's SCs are never listed in all my experience with car insurance.)

And yes, the risk of a warranty challenge will be there if repairs are done by other workshop without Honda's authorization.

In my opinion:-

1. We can opt for any insurer.

2. Better to go to SC for insurance claims (even for non-HIP). SC may then send to other workshop but it will be Honda-authorized.

Did anyone get insurance premium discount for the 1st year under HIP?
I intend to ask for 15% from HIP for the 2nd year onwards.
If HIP don't give, I intend to try going straight to insurer.

I'm using 3M as well now. But wondering are there any good window tint that has no issues with smart tag, or we just have to live with it.
*
Since you're using 3M now, I'm assuming that you prefer non-metallized tint.
I'm using Huper Optik (also non-metallized tint). No issues at all with smart tag (infrared-based) or proximity card (radio-frequency-based).

I was told that the cause of smart tag issue could be high infrared rejection rate (eg. 97%) or/and multi-layered-tint manufacturing process.

I'm not familiar with metallized tint like Vkool, Raytech & Llumar.
Maybe others can comment. smile.gif

Well just for my case, i didn't went for jpj and do a report, i just make sure the insurance is still cover me even after the wrap. Mine wasn't so 'over' because it is still basically looks like lunar silver, the jpj officer once told me as long as they can tell what car it is after appearance mod they won't bother, of coz i've passed by few normal roadblock check and police didn't bother at all. All the luxury cars that has been wrap in the workshop i went, none of them has any issue regarding this, and none of them report to jpj about the color change(i was the only peasant car in the shop  mega_shok.gif ).

That being said, it is still not 100% secure to do so, it is also a form of risk that 1 day might get summon by police, or just waste all the money down the drain just to tear it off. Well, i've bare this in mind and ready to tear it off if demand to do so.

Long story short, personal experience no problem in doing so, but definitely not recommended if you don't have spare $ to do so.
*
If you did the wrap in KL/Selangor area, can share the name of the shop & location with us? Thanks.

Hi,
Anyone has changed the tyre rims to 18 inches and using the 45 series profile tyres eg. 215/45R18 or 225/45R18 ?
Do you mind sharing with us how the change has affected the ride comfort ie. Noise, Vibration & Harshness (NVH).
Thanks.

I changing soon. but 225/40/r18

40 looks nicer  brows.gif  devil.gif
*
Awesome!
Looking forward to your review. thumbsup.gif

Stock tyre 215/50R17
215 x 50% x 0.0393701 x 2 + 17 = 25.46" tall.

New tyre 225/40R18
225 x 40% x 0.0393701 x 2 + 18 = 25.09" tall.
Difference from stock = -1.5%

You can consider 235/40R18.
The difference from stock only -0.2%.
PS4 official price difference only Rm18.

225/40 will look better.
235/40 will grip better.

Agreed on the grip better part.
But 215 jump to 235 worried fc a little bad.
So 225 would be better, -1.5% still ok  tongue.gif

Hi guys, was thinking of buying the new civic.
Wanna check if u guys get the original body kit? Or if there are any OEM ones out there? How much is that?

Also the tinting, which 1 is better without affecting smart tag?
*
Smart tag uses infra red (IR).
So, the front tint must not have too high IR rejection rate (IRR%) ie. high nineties %.
You can consider Huper Optik. No smart tag issues with this tint.

I am using 235/40, pickup feels heavier, especially from 0 to 60-70, since i always drive in city, my pedal is light enough to tell the difference. But power is not an issue from our engine, it is even better with RaceChip really.
Other than that, maybe because more rolling resistance from ps4 also.

FC during my previous city daily ride is around 13-14km/l range. Now my fc is about 12-13km/l which is acceptable. Again, it depends on how you pedal it. I managed to do 20km/l to outskirt today with 70-90kph, about 80km range.

Apart from that, can feel that my ride definitely much more stable even in high speed.  Down from 50 to 40 aspects ratio doesnt change much in comfort level, our suspension is quite soft to begin with.

I also installed Ultra racing front strut + rear anti roll bar  1 day after changing my rim. sturdier when cornering, i recommend this upgrade as well. but please dont fall for their marketing, they are over exaggerated in their video ads. doh.gif
*
Wa, now you have a racer as your ride. rclxms.gif

I have 2 questions:

1. After putting in the front strut and upgrading the rear anti-roll bar, do you feel any difference in steering? Like maybe more under-steering or over-steering bias now compared to stock.

2. If I only install the front strut and continue using the stock rear anti-roll bar, will it be a waste of time and effort?

Thanks. thumbup.gif

Just asking a silly question here. is it the original suspension really that soft that cause the car ride to be uncomfortable? If we are using back the stock rim, we need to install the front strut and rear anti roll bar to stabilize the car?
*
Don't worry about silly questions. The more we ask, the more we learn.
So keep asking biggrin.gif

I'd say that the original suspension is just nice for me. Not too soft and not too stiff.

Generally ..
Soft = comfort but sacrifice high-speed stability.
Stiff = High-speed stability but sacrifice comfort.

So it depends on what you want from your car in deciding whether to install the front strut and upgrading the rear anti-roll bar.
The purpose of those bars are to stiffen the chassis and the suspension a bit.
Our friend from KK has already installed and said not much change to the comfort level. rclxms.gif
With the bars in place, you will corner more easily, change lane more easily and also less chance of losing control of the car. (Caveat: Depend on driving skills also.)

If you have not visited this website, check out ultraracing.my for more info.
Also, ultraracing YouTube videos.
But be aware of hyped-up marketing pitch.
There is one video where the front passenger took control of the steering wheel. Damn dangerous! The driver could have panicked and slammed on the brakes.

I do feel the difference in steering. Steering feels heavier when turning.
felt ngam ngam already after adding the bars.

I think I'd recommend to go for tyre 1st, then only the bars.
if you only install front strut, maybe will improve ur steering.
but you cant solve the body roll without changing rear sway bar.

I think u go for tyre, then only go for bar.
There's no point to go for bar, but the tyre is still the main issue  laugh.gif
Mine is 900+ for front strut + rear arb.
I read somewhere our anti roll bar is 16mm.
ultra racing is 19mm

Thanks for the guide. thumbsup.gif

If indeed I do these mods, it'll be later this year. bruce.gif biggrin.gif
