generally i will steer clear of imitation rims as it is a sign that they have no pride in their product. furthermore, especially so when the part in concern is a load bearing part that is critical in vehicle safety.

you will not crash if your imitation momo pedals or sparco gear knob fails, but you would if your rim fails.

furthermore, imitations typically cut corners in material use and manufacturing process.  take for example the extremely bent spokes of a TE37. the original are properly forged by cheap casting methods used in imitation will result in rims that are prone to failure.

so if you die die want to go for replica or imitation, then avoid those with too fancy designs as those often needs different manufacturing techniques to make them strong.

i dont think replicas of taiwan rims are heavy. They are the lightest among all i ever used. Had used japs and lenso thai as well. Replica taiwan rims turn out to be the lightest for my case and it is very fragile. For japs and lenso, they are heavier but its more solid. BTW, also depends on what type of rims and brands for jap as well

Experience told me that tyre profile is the other main factor for rims life span .Rim JJ also another factor .

When hitting any path hole , longkang , devider or etcetc accident . Original or replica also face the same faith , this apply on casted rim .

And yes , forged rim may endure better than casted rim in same incident , from crack to bent *-*

I change my stock inspira 16 rim to 18 lancer forged rim . 40profile tyre and lastly bent 1biji rim because kena devider .

Now i turn to 17inch aftermarket replica rim with 50profile tyre. Hope can last longer . Driving skill still not improving 😢

Im planning to switch to RE003 together with the rim. How do I know which tyre that have that feature? Got any indicator? Now not so sure. Maybe gonna use the stock rim and save up money for the original rim. Im using the persona 2016 btw.

RE003 has a bit of rim protection. basically you are looking for the rubber that sits higher than the rim when mounted instead of being flushed. its not exactly rocket science when it come to rim protection, as long as it looks like the rubber is more exposed than then rim then it has rim protection. higher end tyres usually have rim protection of some sort even if not actively advertised.

Avoid using the tyres of the wrong width and most definitely avoid stretching the tyres.

The best 15" I've used are Enkei cps2 and Evoregamaster . They are super light .

It's better to find slowly for a used ori Japan rim . Unless u just want the look then only u go for imitation rim . Ori jap Taiwan or Thai rim also will dent if hit potholes too hard . The difference is some badly manufactured will crack and come will even break off at the spokes .

It all depends on how u drive and how u take care of them .

For persona 2016? I think same bolt pattern as iriz so most of them wont fit

Yeah i also constantly monitor for cracks, which is a bit of a hassle.

1k is normally the price for ori. Find a reputable shop to be safe.  Note that the listed price normally havent include centrecone, valve and nuts. It can be another rm200 or so depending on quality.
