You just need a Pokemon Trainers Club account, which completely separate from NNID. Just make sure that you register the correct language because they're independent from each other (english for US/ EU carts, japanese for jp carts).

The bad part about JP account is they only allow kanji for your real name. It's like there's no foreigners in japan at all or something.

It's better to register from http://www.pokemon-gl.com/ than pokemon.com itself. Much easier to navigate.

Haha i was very stressed with the tourney. 7 rounds best of 3.
Had a major headache after all 7 rounds. 
It really tests ur stamina.
Worlds can fight 9 rounds. Amazing

but I don't really know the method to get it to stay long enough to be capture

If u love either of these, it would take u at least 2 months to be satisfied even by a bit:
1. Collecting all the pokemons in the game
2. Breeding/training/battling with competitive online players in fight for ranks

Its like 2 month now of non stop hardcore playing.

My game completion 100%. Pokemon collection 100%. Pokemon battling 10%
