Ho all,
I've narrowed my selection to these 3 models...but other suggestions are welcome.
My questions : -
1. Which of these 3 is better ? 2. MP is not important for me (5R is the most I print) 3. I need print date on the photo 4. Shooting is room light (indoor) is important 5. Shooting without flash in room light condition is important (wanna shoot my baby...can't flash all the time) 6. Photo quality is important. 7. Movie taking without limitation is good thou not a must 8. Do setting the camera to 5MP instead of 7MP reduce noice on the pics ?
I understd tht Fuji 30d or 31FD seems to perform well under low light...but the 'mere competency' in outdoor put me off. Couple with Fuji 'not so attractive design'.
Appreciate guidance. TQ.

out of the 3 models you mentioned, i would pick fx01, venus III NR is too aggressive in fx50/fx07, 850IS IQ is just equal to fx01, no reason pay for the extra. for indoor no flash shoots, if its not too dark, you can get good sharp picture with fx01 in iso400 or 200 with shutter speed over 1/15s, you can get sharp picture easily with OIS up to 1/4s, but for baby picture anything slower than 1/15s would more likely get motion blur. the best / most recommended cam for indoor lowlight no flash cam is Fuji Fxx series, go for F20, for outdoor good daylight the IQ is also very outstanding, very sharp and vivid, why you said it put you off? which part you are not happy. fuji fxx outdoor pic: This post has been edited by greyPJ: Feb 9 2007, 02:31 PM Attached thumbnail(s)

greyPJ, Fuji wasn't in my list bcoz: - 1. Looking for a wide lens P&S (I find it useful as a family man where family dinner/outtings is a norms) 2. IS. Not really hv a deep knowledge bout it...but I do know I'm a noob in Photography (I'm certain the IS helps) 3. F20 hv no dial button I presume (F30 hv thou). The above 2 or 3 reasons influence my decision to go wif Fuji. And call me bias...I'm kinda 'don't get attracted' to the Fuji's DC design & it's use of an XD card. Looks like FX-01 will be the choice. Other suggestion welcome. TQ. Btw, Do setting the camera to 5MP instead of 7MP reduce noice on the pics ?This post has been edited by wind01: Feb 9 2007, 03:36 PM

Do setting the camera to 5MP instead of 7MP reduce noice on the pics ? the answer is NO, MP helps when you wanna have bigger print, for small sensor in most PnS, bigger MP only deteriorate the IQ, not improve, 5MP is more than enuf for most ppl.
if 28mm is a must, then go for fx01, panasonic video quality is 100x better than fuji, with OIS the video is really nice, taking baby picture indoor without flash should be no problem, use the burst mode take 8 pictures in a row you will get good sharp picture easily, but taking active/running kids indoor is a bit hard with fx01 or 850IS, you need fuji high iso to freeze action in this case.
yes fuji's design is ugly and xd card is troublesome.

No. Wht I really meant is...I know higher MP deteriorate IQ (more noise). So if I set an 7MP DC to shoot at 5MP...will the noice on the pic be reduce ?

a shop in midvalley offered me fx01 and 850IS for rm1299, both with a free 1GB card, except fx01 can get one extra card for free, which means two in total.
So??
