Yeah, but surely he can choose not to accept the job, right? I'm not a driver, so please enlighten.
Yeah I have read about the incentive scheme. He needs high acceptance rate so he accepted the job at the rider's and other driver's expense. And when I cancelled the request, I am "penalised" - the app warned me that higher cancellation means lower chances of getting a ride next time.
Will he complain if rider makes an early booking to cut short waiting time?
Most of the time I know drivers are the one who always get 'penalized' by waiting for inconsiderate passengers who at drivers' own expenses especially those made requests but yet to be ready until drivers call up which may take not less than 20 minutes or 2 minutes prior to reach, cancelled! You can make early booking if you want to downgrade yourself to be one of them...
System may assign your request to the nearest driver. Like what you expect, 1st driver doesn't accept your booking request because he's so understanding to know that passengers like you dislike to wait but how you can guarantee the next driver doesn't have passenger in the car? Then in this case, you'll never get a driver because Grab launched this feature recently and almost all drivers forced to accept this new feature. 2nd or 3rd driver will have passenger in the car too no matter you use both Uber and Grab platforms.
My suggestion to you, if you really can't wait, request the car earlier but make sure you can reach the pick-up point in less than 2 minutes after they reach by informing the driver thru in-app chat feature before they reach. Be considerate to drivers, they are forced to do so as they may face disciplinary action if ignoring too many requests...
