I think that's quite normal since you only have built-in graphic chip. I have a separate PCI-E gc and Vista never switch to Basic theme when playing video... maybe it just saving resources to play the video...

sometimes when i wanna play vdeo with jet audio, it switches to vista basic color..
is that effect of non dvd or low quality vdeo??

no it's not, I've played video from low res to high res (even full hd 1080i samples), but never have my Vista switched to Basic theme... still in Aero glass...

it's got to do with the video playing software itself, nothing to do with Vista...

Real player used to ve this problem as well if i remember correctly...

If I'm not mistaken, that means the application is detected as not compatible with Vista aero glass, so it switches to Aero basic. I used Visual Basic 6.0 that has some issues when running in Aero glass, so I set the compatibility to disable Aero glass, so when I run Visual Basic, it automatically switch to Aero basic and got message like yours... so it's certainly the player issue, and no, it won't affect your graphic...

oh..like that ya..i think it affected my graphic..but if i'm played that vdeo at media player, da picture become smoother than jet audio..

Use Media Player Classic (or other alternative than WMP) and you'll save lots of system resources (CPU, RAM) when playing video files... WMP (and almost all commercial media players) consumes too much resources, it's such a waste...

so my base score is 5.9 biggrin.gif

mm..i realized that when playing vdeo at WMP..it's become stuck n slow movement..but when i play it at nero, this problem didnt exist..so nero play use less system resources than WMP..

I hate windows vista.

You can't go over 5.9 but there are guides to haxxing the score numbers itself. But you're still stuck with the maximum 5.9 base score.
