Oh yah... I also got another tip to cool animals during hot day. This is done for rabbits during the summer overseas...

Say you find the day very hot, then you get a glass peanut butter or jam jar, open the lid and fill i up with as many ice cubes as you can. Then screw back the lid tightly and place inside their tank. The jar with ice will act like an air cond.... the animals will sleep near the jar or on the jar to get cool.

but wouldn't it make your bedding all wet?

She use hot nail or screwdriver. Just melt it through.. haha.. I'm considering whether to do that or not.. but partly I'm lazy. yawn.gif

Cold water? Like icy water? Not sure... not natural for them....

Anyway, now I am babysitting prelude's 4 gerbils.... the DEH is the biggest gerbil I have ever seen!!! Bigger than Reanne's Roger ahahaha.... super fatty. What Prelude feeds them I do not know.... but they all look very well fed and happy. Foo must be happy to hear this.

Anyway, I gave them crickets, funny gerbils lah, they really dunno what to do with the crickets.... catch and play only.
*
hmm.gif hmm.gif maybe prelude lazy to feed them.. so he resorted to injecting them with his own formula of cocktail of vitamins and nutrients everyday. hahahahha...

I think no need electrical weigh lar as long the kitchen scale that used to weigh flour will do the job.
*
I've tested several kitchen weigh for flour... 5/5 I tested are very inconsistent. Not accurate compared to the electronic. You'll have an error of approximately 5-10g depending on how lousy your weighing scale is.. shakehead.gif

hahaha.. i have a feeling it'll take quite some time for people to accept gerbils like hamsters though. Most people are like

quote:
my mom: 'yucks! see the tail! like those rats from longkang'
bro's bm tuition teacher: 'yang putih tu seperti tikus untuk buat eksperimen'
bro and sis piano teacher: 'eeeyer'
cousin's wife: 'yucks'

LOL... those are initial reaction la.. but for my parent's case they've gotten more used to it already. Sometimes they laugh at the gerbil when they're digging at the corner of the tank with their eyes closed non stop.
