my dad bought a honda accord in 2004 and now it has been having a gearbox problem....till yesterday it just died(as in it doesnt move even if u floored the gas) up hill......so there are two choices for him to take...and he decided that he will get a recon gearbox for like RM4K to be installed today.......and it wont even last very long(dats wat he says though). A new gearbox would cost like RM21k..
the lesson learnt here is that Honda Cars stink......and it wont stink anymore if they extended the gearbox warranty to like wat 10 years....So DO NOT i repeat DO NOT buy honda cars.........
i would recommed a nissan bcoz it has a murrano....very beaituful....and my dream car for now...

It's either your dad did not service it or drove like a mad man. Choose one.

Oh yeah, my house has two accords so I can tell you that if the cars are maintained carefully, the only thing you need to worry is about handling the car when VTEC is engaged.

Send to MS in Batu Caves for major overhaul. I did mine for RM 5k with race-specific components and modded the torque converter for extra 30% power on 3rd gear.

its doenst mean that if YOUR car brokedown bcoz of neglected maintainance or just plain wear n tear, that the brand is .. well.. stinks.. no one thinks like that..
unless of course u're a 12 y/o.. wait, make that 10y/o
fyi, my father own 91' SM4 and currently just change a halfcut engine.. yet the transmission still going strong.

Confirm with your dad whether he changes the Engine Oil or Transmission Oil? I have an Accord too and I was told by the technician that it is quite common to see Honda (especially Civic) with faulty gearbox & engine. The reason is because the way these drivers drive. If you like to play around accelerating with VTEC and overtaking vehicles by shifting your gear, expect your gearbox or engine to wear out soon. Thanks. ps: By the way, my friend's 8-months old 328i gearbox spoilt. He admitted that playing around with tiptronic on the highway is the culprit. Fortunately it was replaced for free since the car is still under warranty. So, are you going to say all BMW 3-series out there are lousy and don't buy it?
