I can attest to this. There are a lot of B7 Passats everywhere near my area as well. This is probably because of the fire sale they made to make way for the B8. Checking online second hand 2014 B7 Passats go for about RM70K - not very good second hand value 
70k for a 3 year old Passat, this is very tempting. 
Just wonder if the 2014 models fare better in terms of the DSG durability?
