I am using an ethernet connection and I have done the usual tcp>properties, set dns to 8.8.8.8 etc but still i can't get past the block.

My laptop which uses wifi(windows 7) can set the dns but my com which runs windows 10 is unable to

can anyone pls help

why not set it on your router instead of your device? that way every device connected to the router will always go through the dns you want...

anyway, have you check if your win10 connections actually go through IPv6?

im using the unifi basic router and i can only see ipv6 lan. No idea how to configure that.

Try to ping google.com and see if the DNS actually resolve the IP with IPv4 or IPv6. If it's IPv4 it would be something like xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx and if it's IPv6 it's going to be a lot of numbers and letters.

Is the router DLink? If it is, you can go to Settings > Internet > IPv6 and set it to local connectivity only. If it's the old Unifi router, probably you can google.

To change the DNS, in the IPv4 section open the Advance settings there will be Primary and Secondary DNS.

On Win 10, did you change both on ipv4 and 6?

both ticked by default. when i unticked the ipv6 i can use the google dns.

will it cause any issues?

Should be no issue, just your connection would only be ipv4
