unable to set dns suffix Windows 10, doesnt work despite setting

I am using an ethernet connection and I have done the usual tcp>properties, set dns to 8.8.8.8 etc but still i can't get past the block.
My laptop which uses wifi(windows 7) can set the dns but my com which runs windows 10 is unable to
can anyone pls help
