based on leaked benchmark test, should around +-10% performace of rx480, but it was test under base clock.
As Nitro+ ver, it can oc to 1342mhz, not sure bout rx580 nitro+ can oc more than 1400mhz or not @@ wait for release XD

RX580 just 5% performance incease than rx480... tdp higher and performance/watt increase, i thought can be better of tdp due to better vrm or power design? @@

Price drop a bit spotted, RX480 nitro + 8gb from 1369 ->1300, RX470 nitro + 8gb now only 1100 (in lazada)

RX 580 is better than R9 390x a bit (within 5%), TDP should better.

Improvement from RX480 to RX580, mainly new pcb design with better VRM and hsf, solve single monitor power usage issue of RX480.
But get only 5-10% improvement than RX480 by more 30% power consumption...

dam, the 30% more power consumption is whats holding me back. thinking to get rx 480 but currently out of stock from the seller that im going to buy my rig from. how about TDP? rx 580 higher than rx 480?
*
RX580 with newer power design and better cooling, temps higher than rx480 about 10~15%.
You can flash rx480 to get rx580 performance, but be careful with old power design and may get higher temp.

QUOTE(iguana_dude_619 @ Apr 20 2017, 11:42 AM)
which is better buy RX570 4GB for RM970 or buy a used RX480? coz based on guru3d charts 570 4GB does trade blows with 480 8GB  hmm.gif

*
I'm done calculation according review, performance of 1080p should around this.

Average fps performance based on Sapphire Nitro+ factory boost 8gb ver at gaming 1080p
(sure u can oc better clocks, if u get lucky, even RX470 can oc till 1350mhz, as well as rx480 can oc to 1450mhz, just rx580 is hard to get 1500mhz due to unstable)

RM1550 RX580 1450mhz = 100%
RM1310 RX480 1342mhz = 93%
RM1370 RX570 1340mhz = 92.5% ?
RM1100 RX470 1260mhz = 89%

If u want to save more budget, go for 4gb model, can save back bout RM150~200, cause current game under 1080p rarely consume more than 3.5gb vram.
If ask for better future with 8gb vram, seems its will harder to get 60fps at highest setting after 2~3 years, personally thinks is kinda useless.
If want gaming 1440p, sure 8gb vram is da best~ but almost current game, rx580 range is hard to handle 60fps at 1440p ...

If performance/RM, can consider old time Sapphire Nitro Fury Tri-X, just RM1550 same price with RX580, but better performance than RX580, especially at 1440p ~
But roughly RM1600 for fury or rx580, better i go off with an used unit of GTX1070 even there r some new unit of GTX1070, just price at RM1700...

Still, best value will go to RX470 4gb @@ Get it below RM1k and gaming almost smoothly in 1080p.
Sure, if u possible get a used RX480 8gb below RM1100, its a sweet point.

one question, does the rx 580 4gb variant consume same power / less TDP than  8gb?
*
Should not much different, cause power is more to gpu @@ same as u get 32gb or 16gb in ur pc rig, get very very minimal power consume.

But if u want to 1440p gaming and dun mind game not runs max setting, just stick to 8gb vram.

guess it makes more sense to get 8gb since the difference is rm191? and im using dual monitor
*
Dual monitor, depends ~ If u want run two vram intensive gameat same time, or worry bout future performance that maybe 1080p will more consume than 4gb vram, just go for 8g.
Sure, if u willing to pay more, its better for higher vram.

Save rm150-200 from 8gb to 4gb is worth if not demand highest performance of your gpu and just for gaming 1080p.

Anyway, if got more budget and want more juicy in higher resolution gaming, can try wait Vega news, becoz if rumors are truth, should release or news in may.

Why not make order through lazada (there are dotatech) or garage sales distributer? If dun mind pay more 3%, lelong as well.

Etechpc XD i just get a asrock taichi from there last two weeks. Hope they wont shut down suddenly as the boss before... Will be annoying when RMA some stuff @@

Vega, still unconfirm, if amd really release for compete gtx 1080, the price may below than gtx1080? just top up to around rm2k?
If as rumor, there's r few version of vega, it should be nice if got an option near gtx1070 price range.

If possible, i want get newer pcb design RX580, but price... Top up more RM200~300, can get a use gtx1070 under warranty or maybe new gtx1070 @@

im actually looking for newer parts and priority on durability. Hence 580 > 480, as you said newer pcb mean better build? asrock is the only mobo manufacturer emphasize so much on their durability ( better pcb, premium choke, nichicon caps) *maybe i fell for their marketing? im not sure* and its one of the the cheapest x370 board around.
*
new pcb, newer vvrm, better cooling, and 8+6pin power connector? XD
I had watch youtube which breakdown taichi, the vrm design and component model is quiet 1 of best higher end x370.
As audio part, asrock also done a well job as well, its worth to get it if willing to pay for better X370.

Asus got a nearly same vrm as well, but i didnt check its breakdown, and i dont really like asus product, from my past experience.

MSI X370 titanium is using the vrm which u can find even at B350 mobo...

Am I safe to say that msi b350 tomahawk has better components than asrock x370 gaming k4? But msi with less features?
*
On paper,
Asrock gaming k4/sli X370 mobo has 4X2+2x2 power phase, IR35201 as power phase controller. PZ0903BK as highside MOSFET, PK618BA as lowside MOSFET. 12k polymer solid Capacitor.

MSI krait X370 has 4x2+2 power phase, RT8894A as power phase controller. PK616BA as highside MOSFET, PK632BA as lowside MOSFET.

MSI tomahawk B350 has 4+2 power phase, RT8894A as power phase controller. PK616BA as highside MOSFET, PK632BA as lowside MOSFET.

MSI carbon pro B350 has 4x2+2 power phase, RT8894A as power phase controller. PK616BA as highside MOSFET, PK632BA as lowside MOSFET.

In comparison,
IR35201 which commonly found in top tier mobo is greater controller than RT8894A .

PZ0903BK is newer gen, there's no datasheet online yet, so is hard comparable to PK616BA.

PK618BA is 5.5 mΩ 59A and PK632BA is 3.3mΩ 78A, both is same range MOSFET as their price is same range. PK632A should better than PK618BA due to higher amps?
Actually, ryzen draw only low power for SOC, commonly is enough for both, only APU need draw more due to iGPU usage.

Doubler of VRM is better for cooling and stability in theory, my opinion, asrock x370 k4 still better than msi carbon pro, even lower end of msi X370. MSI overpriced for above RM500 mobo...

My asrock x370 fatality k4 is using sinopower instead of niko sem vrm, peoples are saying sinopower is better than niko sem (i totally have no idea, i only know Texas Instrument is the best biggrin.gif). When i bought the board i never check all these about . Initially i also plan to buy tomahawk b350 but after knowing that price for asrock x370 boards (killer and fatality k4) not much different from tomahawk i immediately decide to buy fatality k4.

Yup, removed and seen, the VRM chips has sinopower logo on top. And yup according to online info either sinopower or niko sem. I oc my 1700 to 3.9ghz 1.3v running aida64 stability test the heatsink is pretty hot to touch, too bad the board do not have temperature sensor for vrm therefore unable to check with the exact temperature.
*
Should be ok with 1.3v @@ I saw pp from reddit post taht he fried mobo x370 (no model stated) when oc... i forget how much vcore he used for, but in below 1.4v is hard to imagine how to fried the mobo as ryzen consume draw lower amp and watt.

Had u tried to 4ghz ? seems u got great silicon which can oc 3.9 at 1.3v

I think is quite normal for 1700 to do 3.9, i'm not sure. But my friend's one not even to run at 3.8 regardless any voltage input. I haven't try 4.0 yet, even though i have watercooled the chip but the temperature seem abit high too, idle ranging from 30+ to 40+, full load (aida64 stability test) around 60+ to 70.
*
According to the statistic,
Ryzen 7 1700
93% reach 3.8GHz @ 1.376V
70% reach 3.9GHz @ 1.408V
20% reach 4.0GHz @ 1.440V

I had checked OC form who filled under overclock club forum? Get 3.9ghz wit 1.3v is rare, commonly hit up 1.35v and nearlu hit 1.4v. The best silicon lottery, is hit 4.0 and above with 1.3v.

Whats your water cooling model? is it custom? I think u wont use ur pc daily as under strees test?@@
