Yea, that one, too. Although I'm not saying 'cheaper than RX470', it's just that with a little more I can get the ref RX480 8GB, rather than tricked-out RX470 4GB from other partners. Plus, online vouchers would pop up from time-to-time, like every other sales period. And most of the time I game with a headphone, noise shouldn't be an issue. But the heat, does worry me a bit..

That's typical for a brief moment. My old 290x can get 290watt when overclock+overvolt and that's not total board power.

hi, i wanna ask. i have r9 390. so far so good. i never update the amd driver since i bought the entire new pc together with the gpu. i heard that if i update the driver, it will not perform as good as the old driver for the same game. meaning that if i update the driver, the gpu may not churn out fps as high as previous driver. is it true?

Purchased a XFX RX470, was mulling if I should just add a bit more to get a ref RX480 or even migrate to the green camp, lol, but nostalgia won me back over, and I plan to save the extra for my nephew's GC, too. Oh well, just hoping I can get it before the holidays next week. Fat chance, but.. welllll.

Between Sapphire rx480 nitro & XFX rx480 GTR which one is a better buy?

Jayz 480 GTR is definitely silicon lottery, i've seen 480 GTR barely overclock to 1400mhz and some get to 75c-80c at stock.
But it is one of the best build RX-480 alongside 480 Strix and maybe Nitro.

MSI Gaming is no slouch either, so try to pick the cheapest between all these 4 cards.
From Haswell Core-i3 is good enough for Polaris imo, for older gen you need i5 at least from my experience.
Did you try reinstall the driver? Or use DDU.

I don't know how to answer this, 8GB is probably the better choice in the long run but when? I know the new RE is very heavy on texture but the impact is much smaller when you turn off shadow caching iirc.

If you want a tier higher overall performance the 4GB 480 is the better choice than 8GB 470 imo.

Ahh.. i was thinking about getting one as well but now thinking about borrowing from a friend instead because i only want to play 2-3 games. 

Rx-470 is as powerful as your old R9-290 but perform much faster in Gameworks/CPU intensive games.. try drive in pCars to see the difference if you still play that game.

Maybe both are released, let's just see.

The card is factory overclocked to 1150MHz
Downclocked the card to 1100MHz then everything is smooth again

The water pump on the GPU also sometimes doesn't run when the PC hasn't been turned on for several days, had to knock softly on the back of the GPU then only the pump will work

Want to wait until RX 490 is released because if I RMA now, afraid they will only replace it with RX 480
