Anyone tested the new drivers already ? I not interested in ReLive. I just want to know whether "Wattman" has taken over the "Overdrive" for non RX series cards .
To me, Wattman seems more complicated than Overdrive
*
From supported device it is seem older cards will use Wattman as well, it's not that complicated imo. =p Overdrive only touch State 7 voltage when you adjust it.

It doesn't seem ReLive is anything to shout about , OBS with the same HEVC is much better because OBS provides a large variety of settings.
*
Getting a good video quality without sacrificing performance can be daunting with OBS. Often the performance hit is pretty significant.

I've been using OBS with AMD's hardware encoding , the performance hit is much similar to ReLive (720p 60fps)  , though I'm using a pretty old GC now (7850) , recording in CSGO seems to be okay , in heavy Graphics game , such as Dying light , the recorded video seems to have freezing issues while in game there weren't any issues.  With a much higher end card I'm pretty sure it ain't a problem anymore.

Fun fact , I tried recording with ReLive in Dying Light just now , just when I stepped out of the base , the whole screen literally went Blue , and it restarted my pc , it wasn't a BSOD though.
*
720p60 is easy, i can do that with MSI Afterburner with VCE. 1080p60 is whole different story with my 290x.

QUOTE(k!nex @ Dec 9 2016, 07:17 PM)
Okay now. I just tested AMD Chill feature. It is not working with Dota 2 even when I am just watching those ranked match both in Vulkan and DX11. FPS still hovering around 120+ ~ 160+ fps
*
What card and what CPU you currently using to get tat FPS?

Btw Dota 2 not in the list.

I5 4690k 4.5ghz
R9 290 flashed to R9 390 with mem mod. Core 1100 , Mem 1400
Running 1440p .

You're right. For Overwatch, Radeon Chill works. It drops the fps to 40 only when I don't move the mouse. Once I move the mouse , fps back to normal .
*
Damn, the game love strong single core performance i guess. laugh.gif

I noticed it said "Whitelisted game are manually selected", does that mean you can manually add game into the whitelist?

Another year, another unlockable AMD GPU.
Overclocker enthusiast der8auer just released a couple of BIOSes that MAY unlock your Sapphire RX-460 4GB and Asus RX-460 4GB to a full fledge Polaris 11.

I guess it's worth to pay extra if it's unlockable. tongue.gif

Another reasonable priced Ultrawide monitor with Free Sync:

Linus being Linus, reviewed a Freesync monitor with Nvidia card that totally capable of Freesync.

Such a good price, if only it has a 1080 one. Even at that I think my RX480 is gonna sweat a lot.
*
LG 29UM68? tongue.gif Only 40hz-75hz though so no LFC. Only RM1,165 from GTech(Hikari85), not sure if promo price still on.

It's IPS so that's plus but not sure how bad the ghosting is if any.

QUOTE(kianweic @ Dec 11 2016, 05:25 PM)
LG has a 32 inch Ultrawide at 2560x1080 monitor.

Not sure whether there is free sync or not.
*
From AMD website LG's Freesync monitor only 29" and 34". Not sure if there is a newer model not in the list.

QUOTE(k!nex @ Dec 11 2016, 06:01 PM)
I found a bug with this new ReLive drivers. During OC, for some weird reason, the memory clock does not go up as it should, it stays at 150Mhz during gaming . I am not the only one having this issue.

Dota 2 at 25~26fps for an R9 290 . WTF !!!
Memory Clock Speed locked at 150Mhz
*
No problem if no overclock? hmm.gif

QUOTE(M1X @ Dec 11 2016, 07:40 PM)
Eh guys, so this overlay function in the new driver only works for stream output only, and not on local display?  hmm.gif
*
I think it's only for livestream. hmm.gif

I was referring to this LG 34UM58 which has a resolution of 2560x1080 but unfortunately no Free Sync.

LG 34UM58-P from Lazada
*
Ahh.. the Freesync version is 34UM58A and 34UM57 but both cost over RM3.5K iinm.

QUOTE(BlitzAce @ Dec 12 2016, 10:02 AM)
Anyway that unlocked RX460 - it's still no competitor to 1050TI, is it?
*
Nope, no where close. AMD need to bring RX-470D here to fight 1050Ti.

PCGH tested a PC with allegedly Vega 10 GPU that use 8GB of HBM2 and it is on par with the 1080 in Doom 4K.

Referance-build RX480s are.. pretty cheap, imo with coupons lying around. Would that be a better option instead of partner-tricked RX470 boards? What do you guys think?
*
If you can stand the noise and temperature then it's worth it imo. ph34r.gif
You need to enable compatibility option to ensure it won't suck >75w from mainboard PCIE slot though.

*
That's typical for a brief moment. My old 290x can get 290watt when overclock+overvolt and that's not total board power. laugh.gif

For me the new driver is problematic.
Maybe if you don't OC , its good for you.
Once you OC using Wattman, the memory clock speed revert to a fixed 150Mhz out of the blue and stuck there unless you reinstall the driver again, but it does not solve the issue totally.
I went back to the previous driver.
I'm a Sapphire R9 290 Tri-X OC user
*
Are you by chance using multi-monitor? I read this problem is related to multi-monitor configuration+overclock.

Any eta on Vega?  Fury's seem to be at a really good price point right now and I need something with Freesync @ 1440p/4k with settings at medium.

If it's going to be months before Vega is out (especially in Malaysia tongue.gif) I might as well buy a Fury.
*
No official ETA, many speculate Q1 2017.

QUOTE(k!nex @ Dec 16 2016, 08:36 AM)
I using single monitor also got this problem.

I see, problem still persist with 16.12.1?

hey
i heard amd no more support gcn 1.0 and 1.1 for direct X 12 is it?
*
Where did you heard that? laugh.gif

They did disable Async Compute for 1st gen GCN though, but they will enable it back in future drivers.

hi, i wanna ask. i have r9 390. so far so good. i never update the amd driver since i bought the entire new pc together with the gpu. i heard that if i update the driver, it will not perform as good as the old driver for the same game. meaning that if i update the driver, the gpu may not churn out fps as high as previous driver. is it true?
*
Depend if they dropped some deprecated optimization for that particular games but that rarely happen imo. Best to update your driver because AMD very slowly improving it's CPU drawcalls efficiency. I think GTA:V will notice minor improvement as well.

I tried Samsung 27" Curved Freesync before but can't get use to the curvy nature. Does it still feel weird after few days usage for you?

If you overclock you card stay away from 16.12.x since the memory clock bug is still there.

From what i've read in couple of forums, 16.11.5 is the last good one.
