Yesterday I walked into Maxis I-Center KLCC planning to sign up for MOP188 for a free Huawei P9. After the sales staff check my IC in the system he told me I have outstanding amount for Maxis Broadband service which is surprising because I never signed up for any broadband before or even have any account with Maxis before under my name.
Then at the helpdesk staff checked and told me I owed them RM800+ for Maxis Broadband. The service was active from Sept '09 till Jan '10. WTF 800 bucks for 4 months of broadband subscription??. The staff told me itemized bill is no longer available in the system as it is over 5 years.
The scary thing is, my name, old email, current house address and current phone number is all in the system. They might even have my photocopy IC.
Anyone experience anything similar with my case before?. Any advise on how to resolve this case without paying or getting blacklisted and if an account under my name owing Maxis 800 bucks 6 years ago, how come I can sign up for postpaid services from other telcos?.
