There was once I ordered something, say expect 5 days

2 days arrive Liao
Hahaha

If you're lucky and stocks are available U do sometimes get it earlier. I am hoping mine would arrive before I leave for Christmas holidays, otherwise I would have to push back delivery till when I get back in Jan 2017 sad.gif

*keeping all fingers and toes crossed*

You ordered yours?

PS: It doesn't help that there's plentiful of orders (according to Apple's latest statement!)

yup, can buy at shop actually also. for accessories and AppleCare seriously they are not necessary to buy together with the MacBook Pro.
*
You ordered yours immediately when it was available? Hence the shorter wait time; but heck! I delayed my ordering cause I thought maybe I'll just get it in stores; a bit regretting that now but ah well...... I'll just have to wait wait wait and wait.....

And, what kind of cables are you guys talking about? The unit already comes with a charging cable what.... so why need to buy extra ah?

No prob. I think bad sales for the new MBP with all kinds of complaints and bad reviews. Should not take long time to get the stock
*
You might be surprised but apparently the stocks are flying off the shelves

And for those who needs dongles, the good news is, there's probably going to be a price revision smile.gif

Yeah, agree. Need to demo the touchbar
*
But actually, what's there to demo? If you like it, you'll spend the $$ getting it is it? If you're not going to like it, you're just going to pass?

if you buying for working purpose then its ok.

but i buy it just for entertainment purpose, since the price is quite high, if i dont find the touchbar is useful/ attractive enough in real life, i will just buy a 2-3k window lappy first and wait for next release of mbpr.

frankly this mbpr price is kinda disappointed me, was aiming around 7k-8k. sweat.gif
*
Are U looking at the 15" - the only way for it to drop back down to 7-8k is when our RM appreciates. Well, I do think the new bar is going to be a standard feature on all the upcoming Macs. The bad thing about buying it now is that you'll kinda be the first group of people using it (beta users) so the 2nd or 3rd generation ones will prob be better thought of...

Stick with 13", 512GB - no need to update RAM; still within RM8k+

I have no issue with the ports. But it looks like Apple doesn't provide the extension cord along with the package? I don't think it will fit with our electricity. Sure it will have that static thing without it...
*
What will not fit with our electricity? I don't get you?

Lol well then don't buy - what docks are you looking at? I haven't found any that I like sad.gif

owc dock looks cool but needs dc power to drive it, properly will buy one for house.

https://www.owcdigital.com/products/usb-c-dock/

if i go outside from my house i will properly just buy a usb-c to usb-a adapter for external harddisk.

i dont need to charge my phone via lappy, if transferring files i can use air-play feature.
*
Hmm... I'm thinking what other cables I'm going to need; might as well get them know with the reduced pricing biggrin.gif

I was thinking about placing the order when the damn USD shot up... now I have to bite it and maybe reconsider but what I have in mind is:-

1) Satechi Hub
2) USB-C to Ethernet Dongle
3) Rankie Adaptor

Am still thinking if I should get a spare/additional USB-C charging cable but considering there's no discount on that one, I might just wait till I need one (no need to buy a spare to sit around doing nothing) - but not sure if the price will increase due to the USD forex hike.

Am probably going to forgo the USB-C to Lightning adaptor for now.

Will confirm when I wake up tomorrow so I can place the order through to a friend who's travelling to the US now; bugger the damn USD rates! sad.gif

I live there for 20 years, and November is the month i usually go all out! (Thanksgiving) smile.gif

For previous years model Macs, one can get as much as 300-500 USD price drop but only ONLINE. You never get anything cheap from Apple store, don't waste your friend time shopping in the store.

I would check out aftermarket Mac goodies online, recommended BH, Amazon for what you need. If you fancy a Thunderbolt 3 storage, Akitio Quad is the cheaper and it works wonder, it's cheap and u won;t be able to find it here, I have the T2 version along with OWC T2 Dock. The Dock is problematic. The Power supply is heavy and huge! if you travel a lot and need to carry the dock, i won't recommended it.

The other issues have to do with Mac, if you daily chain number of thunderbolt devices, multiple high res monitors, storage and what no, the speed would drop significantly, and crippled WIFI speed to unusable speed. 0.1-0.5 MB/s It's a know issue in MAC forum, partly due to overheat, Hey, thin is not always good when you put your laptop to stress. Now, i put owc dock aside so i don;t have too many thunderbolts chained in the system.

The jury is still out if the much thinner MBP would have the same issue with newer Thunderbolt 3, i have dump too much money on my last purchase, frankly too timid to find out if the new one can sustain heavy does of thunderbolt devices. If you are not a heavy user, buy a few dongles and it should be fine.

But hey, despite getting burned, I'm still a Mac user and ready to go all out again when the new iMac or Mac Pro release, MBP? not so much, too scare of overheat.

Unfortunately, friend of mine will be back before Thanksgiving and like I said, the sudden spike in USD to RM isn't helping the pockets either but what's needed is needed.... biggrin.gif

Granted, you are limited to Mac goodies in Malaysia but if the stuffs u can get it here like in Apple store. it's much cheaper than buying in USA not just because the recent USD's hike. Remember, in addition to currency exchange premium, you have to pay Taxes in US. Unless you buy on online store like newegg and BH is still tax-free. Amazon is depend on where you purchase. Malaysian complain about 6% GST, that's not much compare to US sale tax. smile.gif 8-9.5% is quite the norm there.

From experiences, US retail is not any cheaper than Malaysia, currency hike or not on electronics goodies, especially misc cables and adapters. In fact, some of them are far more expensive. But their online goodies is another story. It's the online competing war in US that drives the price down, not only that, their services and return policy would take Malaysia years to catch up.

Japan is the same deal. It's not longer cheaper to buy electronics stuff there due to RM shrinkage despite the tourist tax incentive.

What I want is not available here; and if its, it's not worth the $$ to get it here.

I've a question regarding the Satechi USB-C Hub.... U see, it was designed for the 12" MB with 1 USB-C so therefore it is connected to the left side of the USB-C and it fits nicely; on the new MBPs that has 2 USB-C ports, it will block the 2nd port (I think).

And what about using it on the right side ports for those with 4 USB-C ports? You're going to use it "upside down"? Not so ideal sad.gif

QUOTE(westlife @ Nov 12 2016, 11:31 PM)
actually no impact at all. even if one side is blocked. there are still two more usb-c ports on the other side, it can still use for charging, or usb-c device.

at the same time the usb-c hub also offers usb-c, usb-a port, that can be used to connect more than one device, charging at the same.

4 ports are really more than sufficient. especially if u use multi-adapter on either one of the usb-c. it actually multiple the no of ports even more.
*
In any case, I went with the other Satechi hub instead; the one with HDMI, SD & Micro SD Slots & Ethernet.
