Anyone got issues with requesting for AF waiver with any SC cc? I'm interested to get a SC credit card (most probably JustOne) to add to my collection (mostly just for discount promotion, like GSC).
However, I'm a little worried because there is no black and white that the AF can be waived. |

I applied for SCB Just One, and this week I got a call to verify my application. I still don't know whether the card is approved or not, but yesterday, I got an email from SCB saying "Thank you for switching to eStatement", and also an SMS containing my temporary password for SCB online. So either my card is approved, or something fishy is going on lol.

QUOTE(SzeMeng76 @ Jul 15 2017, 04:43 AM) Yup, the card is approved. I haven't received the approval SMS, but the card arrived at my office this morning. Somehow it feels easier to get my CC applications approved now compared to last year. I guess it helps that I have a history of paying in full every month. Hopefully if I apply for HSBC card in the next 2-3 months, it will get approved too, because I really want that 30K BIG points. This post has been edited by imnotabot: Jul 17 2017, 12:16 PM |

QUOTE(fruitie @ Jul 18 2017, 12:07 PM) I have online banking with SCB and I logged in to check out the approved cards even and the CL though I still haven't got them yet. Damn, do you maximize the CB of all your credit cards? To my surprise, SCB only approved RM 5k CL for me. I had SCB cards 3 years ago and that time they gave me RM 15k, this time they only approved me RM 5k. I last got RM 5k when I got my first CC in 2010. Sorry but I find it a bit ridiculous and I have voiced this out with my agent, the CS said I can enjoy the benefits first but I do feel a bit insulted... You approved me a card which requires at least 90k p.a. but gave me RM 5k CL... Don't know what are they thinking. If I were to maximize my JustOne and SCB Gold, it will come close to 5k and I can't even enjoy 20-days free interest period before swiping for next transactions. A bit disappointed and I may not activate these cards. I shall consider again now. Anyway, yes RM5k CL is funny considering your income. I'm pretty sure I earn a lot less than you, and my JustOne got a CL of RM8k. I'm pretty sure there was an error on their side, since I don't think SCB will intentionally insult their customer, especially a high-income earner. |

QUOTE(fruitie @ Aug 2 2017, 12:04 AM) After using CC for so many years, this is the first time I think I have missed a payment and being charged with late payment charges now. I think a few days is still a grey area where the bank might forgive you and waive if you appeal. It happened to me with CIMB. I missed the due date by around 5 days by accident, and according to my calculation, I will be charged with around RM5 extra charges (interest + late payment). I immediately called CS, politely apologized for my mistake, and asked for a waiver. The person said to wait until the next statement is out, and if there is still extra charges, call CS again to request for waiver. When the next statement came out, there was no extra charges. RM 10. OMG. Due date was 27th July and I tried paying it just now at 11:59 instant transfer but it didn't work. Not sure if SCB doesn't accept instant banking from MBB or it is close to MBB's daily maintenance hour. I will do it the first thing tomorrow's morning. I'm not sure if there is a chance to appeal or not for the waiver... This post has been edited by imnotabot: Aug 2 2017, 02:36 AM |

QUOTE(fruitie @ Aug 2 2017, 09:33 AM) No la, my late payment penalty already showing in unbilled transaction. I guess it doesn't hurt to try contact CS and explain your situation. 27th July is not too long ago. The bank might just waive the charges and keep your (sister's) CCRIS clean as a gesture of goodwill.I tried and it works, payment already went through. I will ask my sis to call SCB later. One or two days sure no issue but I missed a few days, due date was 27th July. |

QUOTE(rotijon25 @ Aug 8 2017, 02:37 PM) Why is it so hard to get a standard chartered cc? It's normal for banks to reject your application if you don't have any credit history. Credit card is an unsecured debt, so giving it to someone with no credit history is quite risky.First timer wants to get a CC, no loans, RM4.2k monthly and six figures in deposits, but still cant get standard chartered credit card. As suggested before, you might want to try applying CC from the bank where your salary is credited. If still no luck, you can apply for a secured credit card by pledging FD, since you have six figures of savings. |

I just received RM150 activation cash back about 2 months after I activated my SCB JustOne Platinum card. I was only expecting RM100 from the acquisition campaign though: https://www.sc.com/global/av/my-promotion-acquisition.pdf
Not sure why I got extra RM50. I only spent RM1 on this card so far. QUOTE RM0.00 StanChart: Thank you for activating your credit card. RM150 cashback has been credited into your credit card. Treat yourself to more shopping! |

QUOTE(JuneResources @ Oct 9 2017, 02:38 PM) Damn it, the salesman seems like bluffing me.. Just keep the card and wait for 90 days (at most). You'll get an SMS telling you that the cash back has been credited to your card. But the t&c kinda confusing me. No 8 from the pdf file mention that RM100 cashback for activation within 45 days from card approval date. In simple, meaning that I not need to swipe anything within 45 days, then I straight away get RM100 cashback? No 10, The Reward will be credited to the Successful Eligible principal cardholder’s credit card account within 90 days from the last day of the month in which the card was approved. So the "reward" is regarding point reward or RM100 cashback reward? Then again is within 45 days or 90 days? That is kinda a "mess" and complicated of the sentences (either my understanding is poor)... Anyway, it is a time to terminate this complicated card (either early or late) I just got RM150 activation cash back last month after getting the card a few months ago. I'm not sure why I got extra RM50 though. |
