Last time no one called me for about 3 days, so I called THEM to follow-up. Half an hour after my call, someone called me and e-mailed me with a list of documents. The process after that was very fast.

Better you follow-up rather than wait.

Last time, I called CS, gave them my application number, and shortly after, got a call from Price Solutions (the CC marketing arm of SCB) and an e-mail asking for documents. It was SO FAST after that.

For me, I just want things to be done ASAP rather than waiting indefinitely for someone to handle my case.

Well, at least 3 of them called to inform me that I got rejected.
Asked me to try again in 3 months, I kinda expected it because my CCRIS was affected by PTPTN earlier.

First card is always the toughest.

If you really want a first card and want to "test" if there are problems getting approved, I suggest you try first with your salary-paying bank.

Based on my experience, I had trouble getting my very first card (many many many years ago when I was young haha), even though my first salary in Malaysia was above RM5k and I had previous employment in other countries. My first successful CC application was thus from my salary-paying bank (Maybank), and they gave me a lousy credit limit (think it was just 1 month salary!). Gradually, once I started to build up credit record and slowly apply for credit limit increases, banks became much more relaxed in approving my applications.
