Hello everyone. I was offered a job at SLB under the Well Services segment as Field Specialist trainee. This was last August 2008, we have undergone medical, visa process etc... but all of the sudden the recruiter stops giving us updates on the application so I made a follow-up last January 2009and they told me to wait  (date not specified) until recruitment plan is clear and our starting date will be delayed. It's already June and still getting the same reply (sometime I got no answer)and we're still here, so I guess one factor is the recession.Anyone here who've been offered a job w/ slb and still waiting? Its almost 1 year !!!!!!! Any hint when will slb lift their freeze hiring

6 months is a lot shorter. I've been waiting for 1 year, but in my case, I already had the offer. Just waiting for starting date which is driving me crazy!!!!!!!

I can only answer based on my experience during the Slb campus recruitment. 1st stage is written exam, if you pass you'll go with the group activity wherein you'lll be asked to form a group and design/build a tower out of rolled papers. Keep this in mind-be proactive, join the group discussions or pretend if possible. Your group will present your design and each of the members will be given time to describe your group project. Again, be proactive, speak louder but never forget that you're in a group . They want to see your confidence but they are also looking for a good team player. If you're lucky, you move on to 1 on 1 interview. Sell yourself. Be straightforward and honest but never forget your ethics. Show interest, ask questions. You will be instructed to wait for the result. In my case, I recieved an email 3 weeks after the interview inviting me for the final interview which (which was held overseas but it depends on the recruiter)

When you say them to unfreeze in june, is it global and includes other slb geomarkets (including mideast) or only in Malaysia

Hi CrayX

Hope you are very well.

Did you manage to get your job with SLB after waiting for 8760 hours, probably I should have given that in minutes. smile.gif . You must be well aware of the current climate in E&P. I am going through the same pain as you, waiting for more than 8 months to get the final offer letter from SLB.

I hope you can very well understand my position. Please me know, when SLB lifted its hiring freeze after your year long wait.

To all existing and future SLBss..

Oil price seemed to be picking since last month and I think it is trying to stabilise between $65 to $70 in 2015.
Having said that, how long companies like SLB with huge work force and such a vast operations survive without hiring for more than 12 months? There is already a huge knowledge gap between the retiring top end management and fresh-outs. If this continues it would be creating a gap that will never be bridged..

Does anyone have experience with SLB not hiring for more than 15 months?? or SLB turning down the initial offer after your long wait??

Please share this, as it could throw lights on exploring the hiring freeze..
