Hello everyone. I was offered a job at SLB under the Well Services segment as Field Specialist trainee. This was last August 2008, we have undergone medical, visa process etc... but all of the sudden the recruiter stops giving us updates on the application so I made a follow-up last January 2009and they told me to wait (date not specified) until recruitment plan is clear and our starting date will be delayed. It's already June and still getting the same reply (sometime I got no answer)and we're still here, so I guess one factor is the recession.Anyone here who've been offered a job w/ slb and still waiting? Its almost 1 year !!!!!!! Any hint when will slb lift their freeze hiring

It was supposed to be an immediate hiring. But due to recession, everything was messed up. Even though I passed the exam and interview, the management had to decide if they are going to take me ASAP. It was a lengthy approval process I think because they only have the decision last May. Last week, the manager emailed me and told me that I will have the offer letter very soon.

And yes waiting for 6 months is really a pain in the ass. But SLB only do university recruitment in the Philippines once every two years I think. So I better grab this opportunity now.

6 months is a lot shorter. I've been waiting for 1 year, but in my case, I already had the offer. Just waiting for starting date which is driving me crazy!!!!!!!

Hi,

Anybody know how is the working environment at Schlumberger? How is their final stage interview?

Is it good place to work? How is their pay system?

Please kindly share your experience with Schlumberger. Any useful comment will be much appreciated.

thanks.

I can only answer based on my experience during the Slb campus recruitment. 1st stage is written exam, if you pass you'll go with the group activity wherein you'lll be asked to form a group and design/build a tower out of rolled papers. Keep this in mind-be proactive, join the group discussions or pretend if possible. Your group will present your design and each of the members will be given time to describe your group project. Again, be proactive, speak louder but never forget that you're in a group . They want to see your confidence but they are also looking for a good team player. If you're lucky, you move on to 1 on 1 interview. Sell yourself. Be straightforward and honest but never forget your ethics. Show interest, ask questions. You will be instructed to wait for the result. In my case, I recieved an email 3 weeks after the interview inviting me for the final interview which (which was held overseas but it depends on the recruiter)

When you say them to unfreeze in june, is it global and includes other slb geomarkets (including mideast) or only in Malaysia

Hi CrayX,

I think the recession really affected the hiring process of SLB. Based from the emails that I received from a manager in SLB, he told me that due to the current financial crisis, hiring was delayed and an application has to undergone series of approvals (in my case, that's what happened).

I don't know if SLB already lifted their freeze hiring, but an SLB personnel from UAE contacted me yesterday and asked me to have my medical exam. Then she told me to call her once I am finished with the pre-employment medical exam.

I hope this helps. I know how hard it is to wait considering that it's been a year on your part. Just be positive. :-)

HI Jompax. My country of assignment is also UAE. I supposed the person who contacted you was Shajan Maani or Ayida Harhara? What segment are you? You're lucky at least, Im done w/ everything they want me to do since last year and I havent heard from me. Well, what else can I do but to wait.

Hi CrayX,

It was Ayida who called me the past two days. Why not try to call Ayida or Shajan again? Maybe you can ask them the probable date that they will get you. Did you process your papers personally or you are directed to an agency?

Anyway, I will be with the Drilling and Measurements segment. I'd just like to ask a few questions. What country are you from? What visa did slb provided you? Is it a working visa? Did they require you to have your school records be authenticated by the UAE embassy in your country of origin?

Hi Jompax

Im from the Philippines. Type of visa should be working visa and I think it will become a resident visa once I started since my status in the offer letter is Home country resident (and thats the case of other Filipinos w/ HC status to slb in the mid east). They are the one who will process my visa as they only required me to submit to them the scanned copy of my passport, authenticated school records by the foreign affairs department, medical results and the form they provided me to fill in. After that, I almost never heard from them, their last reply was May 2009 w/c says "Please be patient, we will get you an answer". I guess you're a Filipino also ?

they always conduct campus recruitments from time to time. They also hire interns ( heard that graduating interns are considered trainees that eventually led to regularization), it depends on their requirement. Why not try their career page.
