Not sure how true, but these are some theories behind getting 10km eggs:

1. Buy coins from store and exchange for stuff.
2. Spin pokestops in low traffic areas / rural areas.
3. Clear at least 3-4 spots (Eggs) before spinning.

Which one(s) have worked more often than not for you guys?

Personally, i have tried #1 & #3. Kinda worked. #2 not really becoz i end up playing mainly in PJ/Cyber/KL areas.

Too bad im not gonna spend another cent on this game.

wat's with all the hate? sweat.gif

In no particular order...

Hunting rares or to fill pokedex.
- Niantic's vendetta against trackers while not providing its own (I'm sure its load is a lot lighter now with alot less people playing) makes it nigh impossible.

How about manually researching popular spawns while commuting to work.
- Sighting blank now while in the bus or MRT.

Then what about battling gyms instead
- Gym errors keep kicking me out half way even though I'm outdoors directly in the middle of the gym. Then the cooldown period before letting me in again and error again. Botters/cheaters are annoying yes but nowhere near to this. WTF niantic srsly WTF.

How about the social aspect.. lure parties and the fun to be in a dragonite stampede?
- Nowadays sunyi senyap.. habuk pun tarak

Gotta agree with u on the gym error thingy. Fucking annoying.

Botters should burn in hell... mad.gif

Regarding social interaction, its coming. I think I saw in some news, Niantic CEO confirmed that P2P is coming. I'm looking forward to this. Will encourage group interaction with this. smile.gif

Give them some times..

An upcoming P2P or Gen 2 or trading won't matter if their userbase especially the hardcore continue to decline to irrelevance.

The media won't cover it and folks won't remember PTC account a couple months down the road.

should i pump it for the sake of defending gym? pokemongo gamepress site recommend this set for defending gym...

For a mixed type gym is ok lor but I won't spend stardust on it.

Too many counters to it that's everyone have and too low max CP.

IV80 also low max CP ka? sad.gif

Not easy to get high IV leh...

Actually Venusaur good or not? Grass type attack gooding?
*
IV 100% also the max it'll go ever is only ~2.5k CP so chances are it wont sit on top of gyms where its safer.

Attack wise cocunut tree and victreebel does more damage.

Whenever i see venusaur in gyms... I bring out my butterfree for training. Hahhahah..

Edit: this is why its only worth to spend on dragonite, lapras, snorlax, coconut tree , arcanine... And vaporeon after level 30.

My mistake, i meant Dragonite  blush.gif

IMO Dragonite are not that scary, just because of thier high CP, they can sit the highest in the gym.

Snorlax and Lapras are tougher opponents. What are your preferred attacking pokemons to take down these 2?
*
Lapras is easy. Arcanine with fire fang fire blast is guaranteed to take down any lapras pretty quick.

Snorlax on the other hand ... Just use whats available and grind away. And if its like this fella i battled the other day... its gonna take a while.

well imo snorlax is hard coz not many fighting type out there.
as i still dont hv fighting type i use any fast dps 1st atk like bite and 2 charge atk like flamethrower/ice bean/ etc etc
lapras more easy just use fire/electric
*
Not just that.. Fighting type weak to psychic zen headbut that most snorlax use. Couple that with low HP... misdodge a couple already damn siong.

walau 1st time see a 3k snorlax
yeah but lucky zen headbutt abit slow in dps & animation so still doable.

Last night I saw a gym with a lone baby snorlax 1.6K defender

Since I just caught a mankey, I though maybe I could use my lone 1.3K Primeape Lowkick/Crosschop to give it a go.

Good match up right?

I lost.. tsk tsk.

Great! I need to catch up fast. Target is to hit level 30 before end November.

I don't have much luck capturing high cp pokemon wild, so have to depend on evolving. When you evolve, tend to choose best iv + cp, but sometimes after evolve, the range will be mid-high 1ks. Haven't seriously invested in any mons, just minor power ups (guesstimate around 60k-70k stardust).
*
Different species, even with 100% IV will have different CP at a particular level.

Example like a perfect Dragonite max reach a max of 3.5K CP @ Lvl40 while a Magickarp will only reach a max CP of 262.

http://www.ign.com/wikis/pokemon-go/Pokemon_Max_CP

Then there's the question of cost per power up issue. When your pokemon reaches level 30, power up is only half that of lower levels.

since i always believe in "a higher cp mons is around the corner"
so i hardly powerup any mons the 100k i spend i kinda regret now LOL. since now dont hv any pvp so i dont really find any use to power up mons.
like i say i started gym-ing when i hit lv20, i only use some low cp 1.5k ish to take down gym with 2k-2.5k defender.
even up till now lv29 i still use some low cp mons to take down higher cp defender, only powerup a few for higher rank "gym sitter"

as for which to powerup or evolve, just evolve those with highest cp + iv if end up with good moveset then powerup till whatever cp u like.
if gg moveset just candy them or just for display in storage, if high cp can use aas "gym sitter" too
*
Ditto that.

I didn't really regret wasting stardust on all those spontaneous power ups I made... but I should've been more prudent.

I've even wasted stardust powering up and end up candying it as I catch better IV ones and better movesets doh.gif

QUOTE(thirty6whoisit @ Oct 20 2016, 10:13 AM)

Btw, just for fyi. I took over a gym this morning and placed my 1,9xx vaporeon in. 2 other fellas added in their mons 1k+. Within 10 min, all 3 bye2. Some of my mon before can even "sit" already kena kicked out. Lol....
*
High CP don't do much except for psychological deterrence.

Last night I went to my nearby gym (super active gym... its almost never been above level 3) and it started raining. Couple of fellas were there to shelter from rain and there coincidently was the same team as me so we tok kok abit and decided to level up the gym while constantly being under attack.

We had a 2K charizard for training, 2.3K Lapras, 2.6K snorlax, 2.8K d.breath & 3K steel wing dragonite.

Then we ran out of potions and it got taken down in like under 10 mins..

True what you said. The issue is with lower cp mons, its going to get harder to earn coins by holding gyms.
Therefore, now kinda in a dilemma; like what both you guys said - a better iv, better cp mon is potentially just around the corner, so continue waiting? or power up what we have now? Trying to strike a balance, being prudent, but still being able to enjoy the game all at the same time... strategy, strategy....  biggrin.gif
*
Those low'ish 2K mons memang is not here not there laugh.gif

My 2 cents la...

Build as many 3K Dragonites as you can. As long as its not pathetic, no need to care about that 10-15% difference in IV lah

Sure they can be taken down by weaker type advantage ones but they have very high max CP so they'll sit at least near or on the top of the gyms where they're harder to get to.

Then if you have the candies, power up the Lapras and Snorlax... think of it as community service to your team. To slow down attackers getting to the Dragonites.

Maybe an Arcanine too if you have spare stardust and firefang/fireblast as a general purpose attacker.

Everything else no need to power up also since you can always catch a higher CP one.. in which case moveset matter more than IV (since not long term investment)

Those high IV and/or low CP ones also super useful without power up... if got good moveset, they're nice to use as gym trainers.

Besides training gym up faster/more XP... there's also the added benefit of them being "disposable". ie Saving previous revives and potions.

Having many pidgeots, venomoths, butterfrees etc means you don't have to heal them. Just use another one to train.

Being low CP also means HP will be low as well... you can then use those basic potions collected to heal them which would otherwise hog up previous storage space.

Kinda regret candying so many low CP pokemons... now I don't have enough.
