Yeah for phones on Zerolution or EasyPhone (Celcom) installment plans, the phones are tied to the telco until the end of contract - in another term, locked. Buyers are wary of purchasing phones from telcos - you can't use another telco's SIM if it's still running on contract unless the termination fee or whatever contract that binds is released or waived.

This is only applicable for installment plan phones - if buy outright should be no problem.

how bout maxis normal contract? that is 3 types - zerolution 360, zerolution and normal...i don recall my normal contract phone was locked before...

Q-ing at maxis Sunway. Was informed 11 pro 256gb, green got stock....hehe...

Ok deal tak jadi. The staff named of Jiven claim I still have 2 month contract. So I have to pay penalty of 216. I probe further by sharing that is some centre allow to waive off? He ask me back which centre. I duwan mention anything. I just reconfirm with him, so are you saying even I am your maxis customer more than 10 years with all prompt payment, and I willing to tie up another 2 years contract, that is no way for you to waive of for me? He said yes... my reply is “ mr Jiven, tq” and I walk away...

yes, maxis is very strict, and they only allow waiver if left one mth contract. anything more than that, need to pay penalty. my concept same as yours, we are signing another 2 years contract, not terminating, why don't they want customer to continue? but i guess rules are rules.....

I truly understand as a corporate, u do have SOP but it is not in place when many example sharing in this thread, as some others outlet are allow to waive it off... where is the standardization...

I hope maxis can be not so arrogant as they though they never worry bout losing customer. As market leader, they are a bit to Arrogant...

And from business pov, although u might save up 216 by not allow me to waive off. But u r getting risk - potentially this customer ( me with subline, approximately, 300 per month bill) might port out anytime. Do some maths, waive me 216, but u getting confirm sales of 300 x 24; or I continue contract till end, u get 216, but 0 sales x 24 months...

In my heart, I really feel to port out....But, i need to do some work....my style, pray hard no road show else where I go by celcom,if not, chance for me to port out is Hugh after this case...

My issue with this “new” policy is that - they could’ve just allowed a maximum of 36 months on contract (including the present contract length and new extension) like before on my previous contracts with them. Instead of waiving the last months, just extend it up to a maximum of 36 months. It’s not like I’m changing plans or anything. Even stranger since I always buy my phones outright, so there’s no complications with the Zerolution confusion. More so for all of us long time customers.

No idea why they did away with that policy. Pretty sure continuously tying customers to contracts would be a good idea for them.

**”new” coz I’m not sure when they implemented this policy - just that it’s different from my last purchases.

Yes, yst night I was in da men. Again, got stock. Checked again, I still with 2 months contract. They can’t waive for me.

Yes, totally agree with you. No need waive for me also fine, just put it as my case as 24+2 contract. They said cannot, it is a NEW policy. I also not sure what is the policy, when it implement or how it works. Totally no business sense...

Let's be fair here.
You mentioned that the way they responded to you were arrogant, didn't the way you talked to them sounds arrogant too?
I mean, from the salesperson POV, it's my duty to follow the company's policy, and I have no obligation to make any alternative.
Even I have that kind of option, why should I provided you with that option, while I knew I would have a better customer than you?

The moment you mentioned you could have "brought" the sales of another 24months to Maxis did make your attitude no difference with that salesperson.
Who knows I had just closed a sales who subscribed to Maxis one plan RM188 with 4-5 family plan which deserved the offer you mentioned above?

I'm just an ordinary man, not any spokesperson of Maxis.
Just wanna be fair here.

i am very sure, i speak very gently when i speak to the sales assistant. and did i said the SA is arrogant? refer my post, i am refer the market leader - MAXIS is arrogant, not the SA....SA just perform the duty and job...myself also from customer service background. this make me even more well train as we handle diff type of customer as well....

that is one of the reason i decide to leave maxis for iphone purchase...never learn from experience....and CS is not updated with the process flow..

being their loyal customer, personally i feel their plan are slightly expensive compare to others....with switch of my usage pattern, i going to disconnect their MOP, looking for minimal monthly package...

i buying outright this time...

Honestly, I only ever picked delivery once during their midnight delivery phase last time. Since then, I've opted for pick up to avoid this kind of hiccups.

i think this year is differnet. due to covid case, some ppl might prefer to choose delivery...
