Let me comment a bit. What I heard from my Bumi friends is that they don't even have enough for their everyday survival, or barely enough,.. why should they think about saving anymore ? How do we address such comments please ?

Went to BSN for some facts finding.. and this is what i gathered..

suppose they can really give 6%/year div, the management fee -5% will set you back for only 1% first year and 6% second year (if u are lucky), hence average only 3.5%/year for 2 years time frame, why bothered ASN when u can get PIDM coverage with FD?

was told one ASN3 product was issued years back is selling currently for only RM1.01 which is like negative performance after minus inflation. Any savvy investor could perform better than their fund managers.

Also, their portfolios only focus on solely Msia stocks with high composition of financial markets, if investors really want stock exposure in RM, they can just buy maybank and pbb stocks, again why bother to go for ASN? If you were to risk your capital, why dont u just go buy some reits stocks instead.

Based on these facts, if you want diversification, this is definitely not an instrument to go for, it doesn't invest in bond, it doesnt invest in foreign exchange. It's just like buying the KLSE index.

but seeing the on going popularity of this thread, i suspect i might missed out something on the reasons why so many happily going for it.

Most of us here invest in fixed price ASNB funds giving net div of > 6%

Asnb is doing some damage control now..
They say those invest in ASB won't be at loss because the pricing of the units is fixed at rm1.. The investment are safe & low risk.. No others investment can give such competitive return...

Lol even asnb is worried now devil.gif

Trying to calm the unit holders by saying its good return..
Price are fixed at RM 1. So u won't lose your money etc.
Bla bla.. U know a lot people are not happy with the dividend.. Some even say it's not worth to invest in ASB
Some are saying it might not cover the ASB loan hmm.gif if dividend keep dropping y-o-y blush.gif

Someone needs to explain to me like I'm 5 year-old.

Why it is hard to get unit on ASB?

You are giving them money and they refuse?

As I know the maximum unit for ASB is 200 000, but if exceed 200 000, should I withdraw the balance and put it in other fund such as ASB2?
*
Are u referring to ASB/ASB2 for the bumi, or ASM/ASW/AS1M for all Malaysian?

Yes. That's right. Lump sum RM200k, that's the max initial limit. Then IF you DON'T WITHDRAW the dividend, and say you get RM14k as dividends, then your new limit is RM214k. What this mean is you can withdraw out RM213k, then when you topup, you can topup RM213k instead of only RM200k.
*
So say if initial investment was rm200k. After 9 years it could have compounded to rm400k(assuming no withdrawal), n if u withdraw out rm400k, then later u can topup to the new max. of rm400k?

It's shows that people trust in asnb fund is still high no matter what... The brand of asnb / pnb that's attract people.. Just like  PM funds.. Performance kinda sucks, but still have people investing devil.gif
*
Dont think it is a matter of trust, majority of the ASNB investors are not investment savvy, n ASx is one of the better choices for it is easy to buy n give higher returns.
