hi guys, i currently have a poly tank on my roof to supply water to the toilets, however with recent water disruption i would also like to add an additional SS tank at the point of entry to supply water to the kitchen as well. Should this be done? or should i just change to poly tank to a higher capacity SS tank and pull a pipe to supply to the kitchen?

thanks

Where I am in kota bharu, this is the norm. Meter>water tank>pump>filter>second water tank at rear>pump>roof water tank.

When I have first stayed here like 30 years ago, pipe meter straight to roof. No need pump. Then due to more economic activity, need to add rear tank and pump. Then when water become even low pressure put another tank at the front.

Front 250 galon
Rear 200
Roof 150
Original roof 100

My next door neighbour go even further, 500 g at meter followed by pump to 150 rear. Then 150 top. TBH, his setup is a bit between because got extra reserve. And when got disruption still maintain water. Even though the main underground pipe has to pass my house first.

You have to make it next to the meter, if you want the pressure to go into the tank. If possible build slightly underground then go ahead. If not need to choose between wide or tall tank depending on your house area. Tall tank, less space but more pressures needed. Wide tank more than spacey less pressure.

Can use poly tank for supply to kitchen. Don't need SS tank.

For piping, modify 2 point at the existing pipe to have auto back flow water when no supply coming.

It run auto have/without water.

If sediment, use water jet to suck out or remove from pipe below. Wall, no choice but to scrub when empty

Thickness 100mm - 240kg/m2 - 7.26kN/m2

My concrete is open air too. Should have a drainage for water flow out. Concrete treat with water sealant and paint.

@ozak
Can you share how to calculate the thickness of the concrete slab if my SS water tank is having a capacity of 1500 litres ?
