Hi everyone.

Newby here. Is there somebody who bought 2017 Suprima S? 'Cause I want to ask an honest opinion/review etc regarding Suprima S 2017 version. Recently I just came across an ad in Mudah.my selling a showroom edition of Suprima S (mileage 5k) at 43k MYR? Is it the best buy for me, considering the price point which is now lower than 50k, as the price is my main concern here as I just newly employed and a fresh grad as well. Planning to buy a new Persona but as monthly, it will cost me around 550MYR and above so I want to opt for a better option, which is Suprima S I believe due to its outstanding safety features.

And I would glad to know if there's anybody here could share the annual maintenance cost as well as the FC for city driving. Well, working in Penang, to face a heavy traffic is kinda like a norm.

So that's it, I do really appreciate all the comments review etc. Wishing everyone a very nice day and thank you very much.

Hi, the mileage 5K is a lie... the odometer mileage 100% altered.

most likely its a used company car by proton cose.

you must bring the car registration plate number to proton service center and check.

Is it? Because i saw the seats are all wrapped in plastic. How I wsh I got the time to do so. BTW thanks for the info. Sure will do it

Don't buy unless you have lots of money to pay for fuel and servicing.  Heavy jam means you'll probably only get over 300km or even less with 40L+ of fuel.

Persona has a good safety rating as well.

Really?? Ehmm then I should consider other car lah. New myvi the waiting list is too long. Persona is a good choice though. Will teconsider it back. Thanks btw

unless the seller is the proton SC, then you are safe Provided it have service record book. not those used car dealer claimed showroom car without service book.

Die Die must bring the plate number to SC check service record.

Since I'm not sure about the Proton sc, you mind checking it for me ? Here's the link.

oh this one.. according to the last conversation i have with the used car dealer who trick me.

that used car company is located in perak one.. no office in KL, the one in KL is used when there is customer want to view the car in KL. i think they will bring it down.

and Its not having service record book, as its proton tender car.. owned by proton edar.

but.. they know each other.. my used car seller and that suprima used car seller.

so, when you go there to take a look on car and said will go back and rethink..just take note the car plate for check at proton sc.

Oh my. U saw this ad before. I thought it was in KL but since you said it is in Perak, so better la. As my home also in Perak, just 30 minutes drive. Sure thing! Gotta check the number plate and bring it to the nearest SC. BTW they stated in the ad that they got service record book, right. I hope it's not a gimmick to attract customers. 1 more question, what do you mean by proton tender car?

hmmm. about the tender car also.. when i am in cose last time.. got talk with the SA on the tender car things..

mine one so far no major problem from car itself.. the major problem i have with the car is man made one, the stupid car used dealer broke the alternator fuse 100A {i think its from jump start..}, and bypass it using copper wire.. this has cause intermittent electrical issue {car electrical switch on/off unexpexted while driving and gear will enter into limb mode till restart.

after replaced a 100A fuse and new alternator issue problem solved. just that i know the alternator is working fine one, and have replaced new IC and carbon brush for it {for spare or sale as used}.
SA told me that many of the budak proton bought the tender car.. and told me also some are having problems one means used lemon unit.. while those luckly one get those without problem one...

beware.. proton tender car does not carry any warranty.

for all recall and service fix parts. cose will replace foc with labor..  small sc will replace parts + labor with charges one..

so.. need to really sure on the car condition before buy it.. some althought mileage altered.. but performance still tiptop like mine case la..

Pretty darn scary though after reading your story. Must decide carefully ni to avoid any problem in future. Cheaper price with lots of hidden mysteries under the hood. Lucky you got the ok one. Thanks bro for the info. Should reconsider back my choice, 'cause gonna use the car for the next 9 years.

oh yeah.. if you check carefully on those rubber parts.. either on the bottom of windshield ..or the running channel on windows.. then you probbly can guess the car mileage.

Just be careful lah,.. btw... preve.. suprima.. all are very nice one.. i have no regret getting the preve.

Lets see first. Because I'm not an expert to inspect the car by myself, maybe will come with someone who pro about cars if i wanna buy one. Actually been eyeing for Preve since it was launched back in 2012. Not sure about others but for me, designwise it has the looks, although the rear kinda busy with the cues and stuff.

Thanks guys on the info on the CVT damper. hopefully i get the call, as i last check mine at the center and it is not mentioned to have been part of the recall.

Simonde, when i was searching for mine i did tons of research. If the ad is true, you can try to ask them if you can take it to a sc to verify the history. I do not trust used car dealers. and if it is genuine 1k millage i would still suggest you have some money set a side to have the fluids changed soon as  you get it. this will include the CVT oil. although it is only 1k millage sometimes these used car will "service" it for you and who knows what goes in. Also check the tires, they are notorious for cracking. check the inner sidewall. Next thing is to look at the fusebox, it should have the updated one and not the made in china ones which the earlier models had. also have a look at the cooler hoses, i cant imagine them being an issue at 1k km but worth a look. Once you managed to convince the dealer to have it taken to the SC get them to run a diagnostic to ensure no errors in the memory.

Lastly do note that the car is not exactly economical to maintain. Parts are not cheap (original), and the you need to alter your driving habits to ensure you ease in the throttle on take off to avoid prematurely wearing out the gearbox. Apart from that is always invest in good quality oil, as like all turbo cars the engine oil is shared with the turbo unit. cheapo oils could lead to sludge and eventually destruction to the turbo unit due to a clogged oil feed/return or worst prematurely bursting the oil cooler hoses, which would lead to a potential rebuild.

Since we are done with the negatives, lets talk about why i love the car. I am a driving enthusiast with a very small wallet. no car within this price range give you this amount of driving fun on the twisties (only a manual version could make this car more fun). As for the power, its not big on it however the torque comes in pretty early so thats a plus. The ride typical proton ride and handling, firm enough but still pretty comfortable for a daily drive ( some will disagree with me) The chassis is pretty decent, not to mention the safety aids. The huge plus about the ESP is it is not as intrusive as most systems. it allows for some spirited driving without cutting you off early on. Boot space is decent enough for a hatchback. I dare say compared to a preve this is a better boot as the boot entrance is very tiny on a preve. The rest of the info can be obtained on the brochure tongue.gif

All in all if you are the type that spends money on preventative maintenance this is definitely a decent car, although it has a dated engine with high fuel consumption. btw expect to get about 8 to 9km/l unless you spend alot of time on the highway this is the rough average of conservative city driving.

Hope i managed to shed some light on you potential Suprima purchase. All the best

Very well said bro thank you so much for the feedback. Yaaa i agreed with you. To have a decent car with a guy with little wallet like us, Suprima is a good choice i guess. BTW i'll follow all your guide if I will decide to buy this so called show room car somewhere in the future. Thank you again bro.
