Is Suprima really that powerful? I read from FB that this car can challenge BMW 3 Series and Civic Turbo.

No offence here, just curious. In fact, I am considering of buying one this year or next year.

Taken from G Car Care's FB. So what's your opinion as Suprima's owner on this?

I really like the way the admin told the story.

Kinda disappointed with proton...no refined Preve or Suprima were shown on MAEPS's Malaysia Autoshow

So how fast is stock Suprima? Always heard that this model is one of the best Proton model in term of performance so I'm wondering how fast:

1. 0-100 km/h without using paddle shift
2. 0-100 km/h using paddle shift
3. Top speed

The best is x70 now, though it isn't really proton's..

3. Top speed - 210 to 240 depending on vehicle and conditions. Mine barely climbs after 210, though i have never had the chance to really max it out without having to brake.

X70 is different story biggrin.gif

210 to 240? Seriously? shocking.gif That's a outstanding figure for 1.6 Campro engine

So how fast is your car from 170 to reach 200 mark?

The fastest 0-100km/h Proton was Satria GTI, 8.5 seconds. If I remember correctly Suprima S was 9.9 seconds, slightly behind Preve 1.6 CFE 9.6 seconds (likely due to 17" vs 16" rim & broader tyres).
In terms of performance, I haven't seen a good comparison on Satria GTI vs Suprima S yet.

The statistics was from the official sheet right?

Not that I don't believe it, but sometime the sheet is unreliable. Like my 2.0 stock Inspira, the official sheet was 10.5 secs but mine can reach within 9+ secs.

Guys, IIRC, the 2015 and above Suprima model got some minor improvement? What was the improvement again?

Some Suprima S comes with the same 5 double spoke alloy wheels as on the 2018 Preve MC. However not sure if these batches also came with the same refinements as on Preve MC (3-point engine mounting, pillar fillings, etc)

I see. No wonder I saw Suprima with Preve's new rim. But I don't think they give refinement like Preve MC..If not there would be a Suprima MC already biggrin.gif

So I'm thinking of getting 2nd hand Suprima (2015 or above) to replace my Satria Neo after the MCO.

Been a fan of this car for quite a while already.

Advise please, which option is better once I bought the car

1. Send to Proton SC for major service + change whatever necessary
2. Send to outside workshop (Zordaq, G Car, other expert in Proton cars)

Send to 3rd party workshop better la...so long as they are expert in CFE engine....My brother get his Preve fix at Auto Marques at Taman Mayang area....apparently the outlet manager is Prevoc member

Ok noted

So I have listed parts / things that need to be changed / serviced based from Owner's comments here.

1. Replace Oil Cooler Hose (OCH)
2. Replace engine and transmission mounting
3. Throttle body, turbo, intercooler service / cleaning
4. Install Oil Catch Tank
5. Replace CVT Damper
6. Software updates / remap (ECU, TCU, HU firmware)

Do I missed anything else?

1., 5., and 6. should be done at official/authorised service centres

The rest can be done elsewhere, preferably by people who have been dealing a lot with the specific task like servicing the turbo. Search facebook for people like Zainuddin Jasman, Tam turbo, etc in the cfe/cvt group.

For the oil catch tank, you've got a choice of buying one online for a much cheaper price and either installing it yourself (which is really easy to follow), or getting someone to install it for you (and buying if you don't want the hassle of sourcing for the part)

Side note:
And sorry, but if someone is running a business or are related to the person, there's no need to act like they don't know them. I find their labour cost to be over the higher side compared to other more popular shops, so unless distance is a problem, look for those people mentioned via facebook

Thank you for your advise smile.gif

hey bro, did you proceed with your purchase? I'm handing down my new jazz hybrid over to my sis and now i'm in the midst of planning to get the suprima cause it's cheap. If you have gotten yours how much it cost you and what year?

PS:
I'm looking into improvements like:
1) iridium plugs
2) open pod
3) oil catch tank - most likely will install it by myself
4) racing seats

anyone else has any comments on improvement?

Yes I finally decided to buy Suprima and will collect it this wednesday. I had test drive it before buying and I was impressed with the throttle response. It respond much better than my 2.0 Inspira

I bought a 2015 model @ RM33K (Car price alone is RM29K)

thanks! base on your study should we be getting > 2015? or could get the older gen as well? i not sure with suprima S having how many variant.

2013-2014 model use CFE on engine cover. 2015 and above, the engine cover use TURBO instead. Other than that, I think there are some minor improvement from 2015 model onward. Sifu2 Suprima please correct me if I'm wrong.

Other than Premium > Executive > Standard variants, I don't think Suprima actually came out with any facelift / refinement / upgrade model. There was a very minor upgrade on 2019 model where it got a new 17 rim design (like Preve refinement) and new logo, but thats it.

In my case, I always search for 2nd hand car with 5 years or less. And I prefers the TURBO cover over CFE tongue.gif
