Not a good deal for us at all. Basically they're valuing the S8/Note 8 at RM2799 + RM1399 = RM4198. (assuming RRP of the S7 Edge is RM2799)

Basically you have to fork out RM1399 to UPGRADE to a S8/Note 8 from a S7

dude, by the time S8/Note 8 out your s7/s7e already age and of course if you want to resell it will depreciate.

I'm pretty sure you save more money if you resell your S7Edge at market price and purchase the S8 at RRP instead of paying RM1399 to upgrade to a S8 (assuming RRP of S7Edge is RM2799)

When S8/Note 8 out, Garage Sales, Mudah, Lelong.my, Carousell will be full of S7edge and that time i reckon the value will be at around 1.5k. (Quite a few selling at 1.8k now).

I would say this is a smart move from Samsung, and it is worth it to upgrade to S8/Note 8 by paying half of S7edge price. (Assume s7edge RRP 2799, you have to pay 1399).

Calculations:

Upgrade to S8, with current N7 owner exchange to s7edge:
RM2879-RM300=RM2579
S8 half of S7edge price = RM1399 (assume RRP S7e at 2799 by that time)
Total you pay: 3978

Current N7 owner exchange to s7edge:
RM2879-RM300=RM2579
Resell your S7edge when S8 launch:
RM2579-RM1500=RM1079
Buy new S8 at RRP (assume no discount):
RM3099 (assume same price with s7edge at launch)
Total you pay : 1079+3099 = RM4178
