I need to update that after flashing to global rom from China dev rom via edl, the bl locked back.

So I unlocked again in global rom and it works.

Some more I got unlocked permission approved just minutes again applied for it.

After flashing TWRP and SUPERSU and reboot, I think my phone is bricked with mi logo for more than 5 minutes...

But I can enter into fastboot... What Should I do now?

Any idea why I got this issue whereas I successful unlocked BL using official way and I cant boot only after flashing SUPERSU.

When I done the MUIU setup and enter into it, the Mi account has detected my account and asking for password (with Unlock serial XXXXX)...

If I use other Mi account to sign in this device, any impact on the BL status?

If so, one Mi account can unlock how many times?

I think when I was on China Dev ROM to Global ROM I should not use EDL to flash.

Should use MiFlash so maintain the bootloader as unlock?

Otherwise why the BL is locked after flash to Global ROM.... and luckily I can unlock again without having stuck at 50% issue.

I have updated my post. You are correct to get the idea of EDL will re-lock bootloader. Always use MiFlash  (with Clean_All mode) so that bootloader remains unlocked. In MiFlash, there is also "Clean_All and Lock" mode. This is also known as EDL... the EDL that everyone is talking about.

Conclusions:
MiFlash + Clean_All = Bootloader remains unlocked (fastboot)
MiFlash + Clean_All and Lock = EDL (but in fastboot)
MiFlash + Save User Data = sort of OTA update (offline via fastboot)

So, as long as ur device can boot up to fastboot recovery, it's cureable from softbricked/bootloop.

Let me resummarize using another way:-

EDL mode + MiFlash + Clean_All = Bootloader locked (even Clean_All is used as when I was in China Dev ROM and flash to Global Stable ROM using EDL mode, I used Clean_All (Follow this guide http://en.miui.com/thread-278599-1-1.html and delete flash_all_lock.sh and flash_all_lock.bat)

Fastboot mode + MiFlash + Clean_All = Bootloader remains unlocked.

Once it is in Global Stable ROM with unlocked bootloader, I used this tutorial to perform ROOT:

because my phone can't get booted if I flashed to TWRP then SUPERSU.

Then I used Google Play Store to update SUPERSU into latest version.

It would be good if someone can put a detailed guide on how to root by using TWRP + SUPERSU with detailed steps + the version of TWRP and SUPERSU files should be used (inclusive of source of files)


It is very useful for newbie like me to perform unlock BL + ROOTED.

How to get the device to register in my Mi Account?
