call bank to activate it, that it.
then agree the fee for oversea withdrawal and exchange rates. the exchange rate usually worst because you deal directly from the bank. |

QUOTE(toughproblem @ Oct 10 2016, 04:02 AM) It's better to inform them. Else the might block your card due to suspicious activity. And I would suggest that you bring 2 cards (different banks). Maybank maintenance follows MY time hence your transaction might be rejected during that period |

Each time you go oversea you need to call your bank to notify them your itinerary, and also make sure to call them after you came back from oversea. Make sure that they add notes about your travel onto your info.

Inform the bank prior to go oversea.
You need to know the PIN number for the CC because most merchant shops oversea need you to key in PIN number when buying something there using your CC. Also, according to my experience when i went for Eurotrip on 2014, having 2 different CC (both Visa & Mastercard) helps a lot. This is a safety measure in case if either one of your card didn't work for some reason, the other card will. Last tip, becareful not to lose your CC there. and always save the bank international hotline number in your phone should any problem occur. |

since most of our cards are already in PIN, just ensure that you have already set yours before going... but even if you didn't, you don't have to worry too much cos PIN is not yet mandatory, they can still fallback to signature
Calling the bank before going is optional, you can choose to do it for local cards though... i used my foreign bank cards, no issues... just came back from OZ last Friday try not to use your cards too often, unless you have no choice or you need to make big purchases... the fees and rates are not worth it... |

Maybe first time travel need to call bank.
But now i never call them, too much hassle. Anyway it still work even in nigeria. I guess the bank can see the travel pattern. If first time oversea better call. |
