dji really rushing like mad. Lots of problems with the products shipped out. Saw a lot of mavic crashing topics in dji forums today  icon_question.gif

List of problems with mavic atm:

1. Missing components from packaging
2. Dents and some defects on drone unit
3. Controller calibration issues, can cause drone to veer out of control when the hiccup happens
4. RTH can cause the drone to go out of control/crash
5. Terrain follow doesn't work downhill
6. Camera soft around the corners. Also reports of glare on the right side of the lens despite having taken out the plastic bubble
7. Drone changes modes unexpectedly
8. No manual ATTI

Terrain follow doesn't work downhill and no manual ATTI were intended. But they may offer an update with possibility to enable ATTI mode in the future.

Weird that they intended for it to be that way, cos p3 and p4 had working follow me modes

Anyways, news of mavics crashing isn't very encouraging laugh.gif

Question now is, should we wait for a few months until they fix all the bugs or do the dji dance sweat.gif

I'm buying the DJI Care anyway, so I'm pretty much ready to crash some drone. Have you seen the review for Gopro Karma tho?

No units at dji store at paradigm. They said it's coming in mid November. Please update if there's display unit.

ATTI was heavily discussed in that dji forum. Possibly will come as configurable button at C1 or C2 or 5D. Currently, ATTI is automatically changed if there's no sat detected or VPS not available.

The crashes... sad.gif

Vomit blood man. Takes ages to get it repaired, takes forever to get it back laugh.gif
Not covered if the drone flyaway or lost though. Only way to avoid this is don't crash the drone, unless the drone wants to crash on its own laugh.gif

So far I've noticed that gemfive (storm) seems to be the cheapest using code NOV10. For Mavic only, total comes up to RM4084. Mind is going yesnoyesnoyesnoyesno. Damn it.

Judging from the many issues dji is facing atm, I'm almost certain that shipment to MY will delay, probably to late November (doubtful) to somewhere in December

Not sure....just got my finger cross that it will stay to date... Payment had been acknowledged.

If you're an early adopter, what precautions I could surmise from the complaints from forums, in order to lessen the chance of mishaps is
- Make sure you take out the gimbal lock (take out the small clear plastic behind the camera)
- Calibrations to do: IMU (once) and compass (before each flight). Skip controller calibrations for now
- Do short and low altitude test runs before flying. Test RTH with your phone. Most rth issues seem to stem from ios app
- Turn off VPS for now, it's giving awkward results atm

According to comments, that behaviour is normal as the drone need to climb to RTH altitude before returning to home. You can set it to 5 meters or less if you desire.

IMU = Inertial Measurement Unit
VPS = Visual Positioning System

Here's a list of known and confirmed issues with dji mavic

Mavic RTH in its current state is unreliable rclxub.gif

dji might as well give us a big discount and give back manual control, since RTH & avoidance systems are causing more problems for the user than helping them to fly the drone. devil.gif

Some people reported lesser issues after disabling/not using these functions hahaha. dji faillll laugh.gif

Hmm, Kind to think of it.... not all flaw are bad issue, perhaps we can ask extra battery or props from DJI and claim it is missing, hmm.gif laugh.gif

Dji won't do that, they want u to be beta tester only

And u can't fly higher than 400ft (120m) from takeoff point, the drone won't allow u to fly higher than that unless u fly manual (which mavic does not have)
