Dear all, since this card stated different CB cap in May and August, does it means that our CB is based on calender month and not statement cycle? Sorry if this question has being asked before. Thanks.

This is Maybank practice.
All its CB based card use the same policy.
Rebate calculation is based on calendar month.

Thanks for your enlightenment. Finally CB is based on transaction date right?

CB is based on transaction date. However, for e.g. if you swipe on 30th but only posted on 1st Dec, you are entitled for cash back but gonna use up Dec's cash back instead.

For FCB VS, I guess it doesn't matter whether it's transaction or posting date because cash back is on daily basis, unless you want to ensure you maximize RM 2.5k every month (except for May and August).

Thanks for the explanation.
Let say the condition is as what you mentioned above, which we gonna swipe RM2.5k for 2 consecutive months each,
1st month last day transacted RM2.5 k but posted on 1st day of 2nd month,
2nd month 1st day transacted another RM2.5k,
then based on above explanation, the 1st month RM 2.5k will be calculated in 2nd month CB, the 2nd month transaction will be wasted, right?

Comparing this card with standard chartered CB card,
SC card is only not applicable for CB for insurance and petrol,
but CB is better than barcelona.
However, SC card needs annual fee...

Agree with SzeMeng76 above..

The tiered cash back & cap per tier means you don't actually enjoy higher % than FCB..

e.g. if you spend RM 800 (on non insurance & petrol), then you get back RM 24, which means you get 3% on your spend.. but anything above 833, you're actually getting less than 3%.. if you spend RM 1300, you still get back RM 25 only, which is 1.9%..

I also hold both SCB Gold & FCB.. for my use, I'm charging most of what I'm using to FCB, as I rarely hit RM 1500 on my general purpose card.. I'll only use SCB if I know for sure I can control my spending on a particular month to be around the tier caps, i.e. RM 500, RM 800 - RM 833 or RM 1500 in that month..

Side note / OT: I'm currently actively using SCB Gold paired to my Samsung pay.. they're giving RM 15 off every 3 transactions of RM 15 and above, which effectively gives you back up to 33% Cash Back.. promo ends 31st Dec..

I do agree with you guys, however in term of money spend for cb, Barcelona need RM2500 to get RM50, while SC CB only need RM1500 (include insurance and petrol RM500).
